Quoted for logic? I always laugh at squak fans after them going on and on about how great ic tailgates are and then doing a 180 after coming to ames

I've been to both. I like both. Turns out, I can drink beer anywhere and have a good time with my friends and people around me. Who knew?

You pretty much need to know someone who has got their spot all picked out and set up. Then you just park far away and walk into somones backyard and have fun. If you don't know anyone you are best off just cruising around with a backpack with snacks and drinks.

I've done this before too, it's not a bad route to take. You can park in coralville and hop the train to Kinnick. Then you can go anywhere.

True, but doing it in someone's front yard 5 miles from the stadium isn't quite the same experience as doing it with 20,000 fans right next to the stadium. I know, I've tailgated at both places.

I did IC twice back in college. Never again. ****ty town, ****ty tailgate, ****ty stadium.

Much better to get a group together and watch it locally.

Better to park across the river and 'tailgate' at the bars and restaurants on the ped mall.

When were you in college? Obviously it was before the $80 million dollar renovations to Kinnick in 2006.

But from what I remember, from 2000 to 2006 the best place to be was the Magic School Bus tailgates, I dont know if that is still an option though. With the magic school bus you dont have to bring beer, you can just buy it there.

Magic bus is gone, last time I heard. It was a big deal a year or two ago over here, big urination match between them and the city, they set up this permit system for folks setting up shops/tailgates around the stadium. Basically, the city decided they wanted to shut the magic bus down, so they passed this ordinance, then when the bus folks pointed out that it affected everyone else down there too, the city was going to put it in for everyone, then everyone *******, then they changed some stuff, and if I recall, in the end, the magic bus still didn't come back.

Laugh all you want, but despite its size, its an old dump. There's a line between 'historic' and just 'old' and Kinnick is definitely on the side of "old"

I will, and thank you for keeping me entertained on a Friday afternoon at the office. Next you will say that Jack Trice is a better venue.

Had you ever been to kinnick before the 93 mil upgrade? There's a reason it took that much $$ to make it look like it does, which is sill not all that great. Not saying JTS is better, its just not great. Only thing I'm jealous of is how closer the seats are to the field. So yes... It was really ****** back when we went to

Feign injury and try to get a parking pass at theUniversity Hospital Parking Ramp.
While your there I'd recommend a vaccinationshot to prevent contracting Herkies while in Ia City.

I've used Finkbine in the past but its been a few years.

That's some garbage right there, I mean for 10 dollars it was all you could drink and you could watch the game on the tv's plus they had bands at halftime on a stage. It was always a good time

Go to the Finkbine driving range for a group that size. Lots of room and about a 10 minute walk to the stadium. Its a pretty decent atmosphere out there

Some pretty good insight here... :jimlad:

Anyone got anything? I understand IC is not conducive to tailgating... I didn't really choose this event, just responsible for organizing it.

Honestly going to the Field House or something to watch the game is the most enticing suggestion thus far.

I tailgated there quite a bit in my early college days with friends who went there, even dated a hawkeye fan for a while and never had a bad experience, just the normal hard time given to visitors. But admittedly haven't been back since maybe something like 2005.

I did see a dude in an ISU shirt get sucker punched in the port-a-potty line in '02. That was crazy.
