Agreed. Looking off his receivers Rocco struggled with imo.

I also think his mechanics need some work. I agree with the sidearm throws allowing DLs to bat balls. Also, his footwork, especially under pressure, looked like a mess to me too.

I think UCF unlocked the best way to disrupt our O and that was to blitz a lot. Seems like we saw quite a few more blitzes the latter half of the year and Rocco struggled as a result.

Love the kid and he’s the best clutch QB I’ve ever seen at ISU. Just some things to work on.

Rocco isn't going to grow. And feel his using different arm angles is a plus.

Feel it comes down to the OL doing a better job of moving guys out of passing lanes and keeping engaged with DL. Also could see Mouser move pocket a bit, but didn't feel we had much success when doing that this year.

I agree that I'd like to see them move the pocket more. Rocco can move pretty good and getting him out of the pocket with open throwing lanes would help get some easy completions. Even a few quick swing passes to Sama, getting him on the edge in space and letting his speed take over would be good. Just don't keep Rocco in the same spot in the pocket ever single pass attempt so the D-line can't just rush to the same exact spot every time.

Moving the pocket can be good, but it does come at a cost. When you move the pocket to one side of the field you essentially eliminate the other side of the field meaning the defenders can compress the area of the field they have to cover. So there is some cost/benefit to weigh.

A. Mouser says that Hot Fudge Sundae PopTarts are the best PopTart.

B. My local WalMart is sold out of Hot Fudge Sundae PopTarts.

Makes perfect sense!

I don't know what the solution is but there are plenty of QBs Rocco's size who can stand in the pocket and don't get the ball batted down so often, got to figure it out. It's not just a height thing.

He sidearms it for some reason. Especially since the UCF game..not sure if he threw like that before
That Arizona state interception made zero sense. The throwing lane is wide open if he threw it normally. Instead, he sidearms it right into Tyler Miller.

I think his shoulder was bothering him most of the year. I remember hearing the announcers early in the Baylor game that Rocco got some help with his shoulder that week.

It's a quicker release, usually when he's trying to fit it into a small window on RPOs/slants. It helps with the angle and the speed of delivery, but obviously has its downsides too. Rocco is good at reading defenses, but he can stare down receivers, which makes it easier to deflect at the line.

Agree. I thought Mouser did a really good job for his first year. I think the players like him, he is open to suggestions and change, and he will get better with experience.
We can hope. 80% of the time his offense was very predictable…especially on 1st down. Sometimes he got too “cute” at critical moments. Other times wild plays were executed well and made life interesting. Have to admit we saw some things we hadn’t seen in a while…but the execution wasn’t always good.
