Speaking about Re-al Mitchell, I forgot that in high school he split time at QB with DJ Uiagalelei. Purdy and Iowa State were matched up with Uiagalelei and Clemson 2 years later. So another Iowa State connection there.

Question: How is it that Uiagalelei is able to hit the transfer portal again, after playing at Clemson, then at Oregon State this year? I thought there was a limit on the number of times you could do the portal, like only once? Apparently not?

Black chrome might be cool.
It might be. I don't think we'll ever do a specialty helmet again, like the red chrome a few years back. The money gifted for that will now be used for NIL.

There is only so much money to go around. The NIL need seems to be pretty high. The money gifted for those helmets was nice, they didn't quite get the color right. But I think that discretionary money will now be used on NIL. For the time being.

Interesting that he thinks he can make a better overall deal playing 1 more year of college vs. going pro. He might make more money, for that 1 year, I don't know, and he will be THE guy. He'll get 1 more year of college experience.

I’m assuming he got feedback that he’s a late round pick to a fringe UDFA. If that’s the case, he’s 100% weighing his options to see if he can grab a huge bag for 1 year and if not then he will enter the draft and roll the dice.

Everything was great about this helmet. Except the Logo sticker! No biggie there!

The subtle white piping around the back and (I assume) the front bumpers, are perfect. I hadn't noticed that before.

I infer from your comment that the cost for applying chrome to helmets is expensive? I don't have any information.

Do you have an idea of the cost? But you make a great point, funnel such money into NIL.

That "white striping" wasn't intentional, I assume, it's just the stickers where red and the bumpers were white.
Best part is the visor.
I think an all "gold" logo would look good on our cardinal helmets, like an all gold walking Cy so that it stands out more than a cardinal logo on a cardinal helmet. That's the issue I have with in-state logo, it's a lot of cardinal on cardinal so it blends into the helmet and looks bleh that's why I like the mono color stencil I state more than the beveled.

While I dont disagree, with what you are saying, that a specialty helmet is probably not going to happen or in very rare circumstances, I dont believe the money used for those helmets will be used for NIL.

If I remember the money for those came from the Gridiron Club, which is still active, but I don't believe their money is used for NIL. I am not sure it can, due to the restrictions.

You may have meant that people giving to the Gridiron Club will now give to NIL instead, which is possible, but I still think the GC will continue, maybe with a bit less funds.

Yes, I wasn't exactly sure where the money came from. These days, I suppose donations are a bit down for the gridiron club and the Athletic Dept., in lieu of NIL giving.

I'm not sure of the cost. To do it properly, I doubt it comes cheap. I will take a wild guess and say $150-250 per helmet. I could be way off. An equipment specialist could chime in. Plus you would have the cost of removing the paint and refurbishing them during the off season. Or buy new ones.

And I tend to believe that our chrome helmets were painted on, due to the timing at the end of season. That and ordering a completely different factory colored new helmet will run over about $800 per, anymore, and they were only used twice.
