Forgot about him. 3 in 21 years
Being All Big12 doesn't count for much. The Big12 over the last 20 years = Mountain West. Nobody thinks Mountain West QB's or Big12 QB's numbers are legit against those pretend defenses.

Purdy couldn't beat out Noland,
he was handed the job because of how bad and ineffective Noland was.
Purdy couldn't beat out Kempt or Noland, he was handed the job because of injury and how bad and ineffective Noland was. I mean we are talking a non NFL guy, and a FCS QB here. CMC lost an all important Big12 game handing Noland the reins over Purdy. Against TCU CMC stuck with Noland and his 14-28 for 79 yards instead of going to Purdy. YIKES!

Lol yikes
What is incorrect about what I said? Purdy couldn't beat out a healthy Kempt, and CMC took a conference loss playing a FCS QB over Purdy.
2019 All Conference QB's in the Big 12
1st team: Heisman runner up Jalen Hurts
2nd team: Brock Purdy
Iowa's last second team or better:
2015 All Conference QB's in the Big 10
1st team: Connor Cook
2nd team: CJ Beathard
3rd team: Nate Sudfeld
Purdy was a freshman who didn't enroll early. I don't think anyone expected him to start day one. They knew he wasn't going to redshirt though
Of course the coaches knew he was going to play. With as bad as an OL isu had, they needed 4 QB’s to be ready to play.Purdy was a freshman who didn't enroll early. I don't think anyone expected him to start day one. They knew he wasn't going to redshirt though
So I am correct he didn't beat out Kempt, but only took over because of injury. Thanks for confirming!
He didn't start as a true freshman his first two games so no he didn't beat out Kempt lol
YIKES! He must be awful if he couldn't beat out an established starter his Fr. season.

If you're comparing him to Petras he enrolled early and redshirted. He had 2.5 years to win the job. Lol what a horrible comparison

There's no way they "knew" he wasn't going to redshirt. C'mon. If things had been going better with Kempt or Noland he never would've played.Purdy was a freshman who didn't enroll early. I don't think anyone expected him to start day one. They knew he wasn't going to redshirt though

The level of dumb you are on this morning is incredible.

Stare with me 10 situation throughout college football where a Fr. beat out a 3 year returning starting QB who was drafted into the NFL?
I mean Petras is gonna be good, but even all time greats at QB didn't all just come in and start at QB right away over NFL Draft picks.
