ICCC is on break this week. The ICCC President has kids that go to SE.

Of course, ICCC will be on break at the same time as the Fort Dodge schools.

Ames, DSM Public, 15 DSM area suburban schools, Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Waterloo, Burlington, and Iowa City schools are all on break next week, along with DMACC and Kirkwood.

Again, it was voted on by the schools. Every school had a vote; it's not like the Fort Dodge schools didn't get to vote their preference.

This is the first year the 4A game is being played at 1:00 PM; it was previously played at 7:00 PM. In the past, the finals went 1A to 4A; now it is 4A to 1A.

The boy's tournament went to a 5-day event in 2020. They surveyed the coaches and decided to drop the consolation games and finish the tournament on Friday. The boys' tourney backing up against spring break played a part in the decision to cut it back to 5 days instead of 6.

They cancelled the consolation games that year and decided that consy games might as well be eliminated for good. The boys only play 28 games at the Well while the girls play 35,therefore the boys can end earlier which opens up the arena for the Wild,Wolves and Barnstormers who are forced to be on the road while the girls/boys tourneys are booking up the arena.

I actually kind of like Aaron Thomas's idea of only taking the Top 4 to Des Moines in each class and playing it over 3 days.

You then split the first round's 16 games between Hilton, Carver, McLeod and Knapp based on geography to limit travel.

Not sure why it's a big deal. Aren't most DSM schools out for spring break, so parents already dealing with kids out of school. Personally, I don't feel there is less prestige playing in afternoon vs. evening.

I could see the smaller school folks having more of a complaint having a late night drive home or having to spend for another night hotel. Hotels probably happy fans from NW Iowa and Bellevue Mqtte sticking around.
