Just saw Union Laporte City pulled off a big upset in substate. 2a will be interesting. Any other big upsets going into state?

Girls Athletic Union - puts girls tournament games on IPTV for free

IHSAA - hides football playoffs and boys basketball tournament behind a paywall app
It's not an ihsaa thing. It's the ihssn whom they sold media rights to. That agreement is coming to an end after the baseball season.

Yes, the IHSAA sold the rights to the IHSSN. That doesn’t excuse the IHSAA - they took the cash from the IHSSN knowing they’d have to make it back somehow, right?

Even better than IPTV. I was out-of-state last week and was able to watch a few early round games on YouTube.

With college hoops tournaments ramping up as the week progresses, the IHSAA should make early rounds games accessible to draw people in.

I beleive the contract that was signed was that these broadcasts/streams would be free to watch.

The IHSAA has been fighting for years to make the streams free again.

The contract called for streaming. They didn't stipulate it would be free. Which is why it’s not. IHSAA **** the bed which is typical of the association.

The girls stream games for free on their website and IPTV also streams live.
The boys quarter-final and semi-final games are streamed on IHSSN but you have to pay. The finals are streamed for free.
IPTV only televises the finals on regular television.
The IHSSN uses a network of cable t.v. outlets that air the quarter-finals and semi-finals. Some outlets include Mediacom channel 22. Two outlets TCA and Premier Communications (NW Iowa,Spencer and areas west of there). Absolute TV which serves parts of far s.w. Iowa, far eastern Iowa (Clinton) and towns between Ames,Marshalltown and Iowa Falls. And Aureon which serves a number of small towns and rural areas through out the state including Algona,Cascade,Dunkerton and South Slope Telephone out of North Liberty. If you live in the that area and you have cable t.v. with South Slope the games are on channel 71. All you need to do there is turn on your t.v. to that channel and you can watch.
The finals are aired on t.v. stations across the state including channel 17 in Des Moines.

There isn't a more incompetent organization in Iowa than the boys athletic association. Between the Register not even having box scores and the boys union failing to do anything to promote the tourney, it is like this event doesn't even happen anymore.
