Injuries - the concern…

It's Keshon's last go and Tamin is a warrior. They have 7 maybe 8 days to rest. They haven't had that in months and months.....

We'll be a 3 seed and I don't want to be anyone who has to face us full strength.
How about 7-8 days to practice together and get everyone on the same page?

Unless Keshon is feeling great, I think I'd try to go without him in the first round (or only really light minutes) and save him for the second round if possible. Get that second game and then you have another week of rest.
Injuries are one of many reasons I’m glad to not be a coach of any sport at this level. I’d hate to have to manage this

Duke may very well have more serious injury concerns than us.
Don't think it's may. Cooper Flagg is a #1 draft pick.

That looked like high ankle sprain.

Maybe he will have his Willis Reed moment.

For those that don't know what that means, Google it :)

Definitely. I guarantee Keshon will want to go in the next game regardless, and if you hold him out and get upset, you just ended his college career. That thought would weigh heavily on my decision too.

Keshon's season is pretty much over at this point. He might play a little bit, but I don't think he will be much of a factor I'm not sure he even starts a game in the NCAA tournament.

I think today's lineup is probably what we will see going forward the rest of the way.

Duh!
Groin is like hamstring. It really limits what you can even do physically, AND its really easy to re-aggravate and make worse. Treatment treatment treatment, and hope we play friday not thursday.

And I guess just pray for a miracle for Keyshon. Would hate to say I have already seen his last game at ISU.
It took my wife six months to recover from an adductor injury.

Yeah and while today's available players played well there's a full game of film on it so things will be tight no matter what round or who they're playing.

with Tamin and Keshon's injuries, I think I need to adjust my expectations for NCAA tournament. We just don't have the horses remaining to get very far.

Houston also had injuries before the tourney started. It was a factor in ISU beating them so bad.
Just thinking about the game today... While it would be fun to win the Big 12 tournament, I think today may had been the best possible outcome: Team played great being down 2 starters AND Gilbert/Lipsey can now get the rest they need before the NCAA tournament.

Just hope they get healthy and no further illnesses/injuries bite the team. And ISU has been fortunate the last couple years avoiding the injury bug... not so much this year

I'm definitely not mad they get some extra rest and I couldn't be prouder of the effort.

But I wanted them to get that win so badly. Once you get to the Big 12 tournament you only have two losses left. And I am not ready to see this team finished.

My best guess is that Tamin plays from here out. If he went through warmups today, means he's at least somewhat close and a week of rest will do him good. Maybe on a minutes limit for game 1 (and 2, depending on opponent). Keshon is harder to figure out, but I wonder if it'll be like Tamin today, run warm-ups and be suited up and if we absolutely need him, he might get some run first weekend and more if we make it past that.

There's plenty of other teams I would have been OK with ISU losing even with that effort/injuries etc. but I really wanted them to pull it off against BYU.

I would have given my left nut to watch this team at 100 percent this March. My right one too if it meant a natty.

Like I said that stupid team has broken my heart twice in 10 days. The game at Hilton would have easily been a top 3 game that I've been to and today would have been an all-time performance for Curtis (it obviously was still an all-time performance, but the loss takes a bit out of it) and an all-time gutsy win.

The committee will probably put us in their bracket and we'll lose to them in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8.

All this Gilbert tea-leaf reading is such loser-talk catastrophizing. Go take a walk. Anyone who watched him play yesterday in-person could see it wasn’t that he was making his usual plays and just took himself out because he’s frustrated. He was passive and not explosive, which is wholly unsurprising considering the injury. There are professionals on the staff who know infinitely more than I do, both medically and in terms of how he looks in practice relative to how he looked pre-injury. If you want to argue he’s mentally checked out, I guess you can make that claim, but for a guy who’s likely not going to the NBA I can’t think of a single reason you’d choose to sit during the most crucial part of your final season. If he thinks his current level of output won’t help the team or may even hurt it, I have to believe him. There will be days his leg feels better. We can hope that some of them are game days, and that’s not impossible

Before today we were the last or second-to-last 3 seed in most everyone's bracket, I'd say we're pretty close to a 4.
Instead of just talking out of your ***, why not reference Bracket Matrix, which averages the brackets. Dated 3/13, we're tied for the second-best 3 seed.
