Didn't Ruttles have a special ice cream dessert? Ram-a-lang-a-ding-dong or something like that? Not sure what was in it.
October 31st is the last day. They put it on FB.That’s a bummer. I heard this today too. Wasn’t a bad option for pizza.
Out of curiosity I googled old Chicago locations. Not a lot left. Dubuque or Sioux City would be the closest, and going by rating they might not be around much longer. I will miss the Ames location, still thought it was pretty solid.

Diamond Dave's? Was that at the south end of the mall by Sears, later replaced by Hardees?Minskys Pizza
Diamond Daves
10 scoops of ice cream with toppings for $9. Name on a plaque if you finished it. Ruttles was created and run by the son of the Happy Chef chain owner. There was - it had, like, 20 scoops of ice cream or something like that, I don't remember. I just know it was insane. If you ate it all, I think maybe you got it for free (??), but know for sure that you got your name on a plaque in the entryway. I remember looking at them while we waited for a table to see if I knew anyone.
Yeah.Diamond Dave's? Was that at the south end of the mall by Sears, later replaced by Hardees?
I think it was Hardee’s before DD’s.Diamond Dave's? Was that at the south end of the mall by Sears, later replaced by Hardees?
Eons ago when there was a bowling alley, old theater, etc I thought the rumor was that Home Depot wanted to buy up everything and build there. My friend and I went there one time and were like "this is great, we should come again". A few days later, building completely gone.
Heard that Old Chicago is closing in the next week or two. Saw a post on FB about it.
If DD was replaced by Hardees; what was in that location before DD b/c I thought Hardees was there prior to DD.Diamond Dave's? Was that at the south end of the mall by Sears, later replaced by Hardees?
My thought as wellI think it was Hardee’s before DD’s.
GOOD!!!!! Old Chicago sucks. At least now it won't be an option for my wife to want to eat at when we are in town for games.
Bowling Alley was closed after 2010 floods. The had to rebuild after the '93 floods.Eons ago when there was a bowling alley, old theater, etc I thought the rumor was that Home Depot wanted to buy up everything and build there.
There used to be a great pizza truck that would park there. Guy would tow it behind a truck.Bowling Alley was closed after 2010 floods. The had to rebuild after the '93 floods.
Yeah.
Great buck burgers and captain Morgan nights there.
The bar was facing Grand and there were tables that kind of went towards the mall.I heard about the deals at Diamond Dave but closed right at around I was 21. I remember it was there my freshman year as the dining was closed on Sundays night so we always went to Fazoli's. Cheap, and tons of breadsticks. And it was always packed!
Remember Diamond Dave, just never got to go inside. Just a dream while going to the $1 movies.
Can I get my World Beer Tour plaque?Heard that Old Chicago is closing in the next week or two. Saw a post on FB about it.
