Out of curiosity I googled old Chicago locations. Not a lot left. Dubuque or Sioux City would be the closest, and going by rating they might not be around much longer. I will miss the Ames location, still thought it was pretty solid.

I feel like I can't speak on it yet but in time as someone involved in the situation I will give my thoughts on why at a later time.

Didn't Ruttles have a special ice cream dessert? Ram-a-lang-a-ding-dong or something like that? Not sure what was in it.

There was - it had, like, 20 scoops of ice cream or something like that, I don't remember. I just know it was insane. If you ate it all, I think maybe you got it for free (??), but know for sure that you got your name on a plaque in the entryway. I remember looking at them while we waited for a table to see if I knew anyone.

10 scoops of ice cream with toppings for $9. Name on a plaque if you finished it. Ruttles was created and run by the son of the Happy Chef chain owner.

My friend and I went there one time and were like "this is great, we should come again". A few days later, building completely gone.
Eons ago when there was a bowling alley, old theater, etc I thought the rumor was that Home Depot wanted to buy up everything and build there.

Bowling Alley was closed after 2010 floods. The had to rebuild after the '93 floods.
There used to be a great pizza truck that would park there. Guy would tow it behind a truck.
They had a clay/brick oven.

I wonder what happened to them too.

Yeah.
Great buck burgers and captain Morgan nights there.

I heard about the deals at Diamond Dave but closed right at around I was 21. I remember it was there my freshman year as the dining was closed on Sundays night so we always went to Fazoli's. Cheap, and tons of breadsticks. And it was always packed!

Remember Diamond Dave, just never got to go inside. Just a dream while going to the $1 movies.

The bar was facing Grand and there were tables that kind of went towards the mall.
It was a decent spot to hang out it.

It was no OMalley and McGees though.
