Beautiful stuff. Only things that come to mind that would've made sense to include would be a shot of the Des Moines farmer's market, balloons during the Classic in Indianola, RAGBRAI, and a tornado. Also maybe a shot inside the Well for the state wrestling tourney.

I know it was old and small but The Barn had something about it.

This deer is mounted and on display in my hometown in north Iowa. It lived in the area in the 1980's. It died of pneumonia in 1988. I am fairly certain it is the reason, or at least part of the reason that Iowa passed the law in 1987 saying you can't hunt a deer that is more than 50% white.

That is a new one to me.

Overall, I liked the pictures. Seems like they spent a lot of time in eastern Iowa. (Not that western Iowa is all that much different from an outsiders point of view.)

It was a pretty big deal at the time, at least locally. It spent its whole life in basically a 4 square mile area. Anytime someone would spot it word would spread and many would drive over hoping to see it.

Even though the Barn was old and musty...it was an intimate venue and had character. Wells Fargo arena feels large and cold and I think it reflects on the attendance.

Cool map....but...
1) Okoboji should say the Riviera for Nebraskan's - anyone that spends time up there see's 5x more Nebraska license plates than South Dakota plates.
2) Emmetsburg should say Irish and North of Algona should say German. I live around this area and have never met a "hungarian" my entire life.

I think they did a really nice job.

A picturesque NE IA dairy farm in the rolling hills with contoured crops on the hillsides would have been neat.

Pictures of a small-town "annual days" or 4th of July celebration would have been cool. Those are big deals in small-town, rural Iowa.

RAGBRAI was the first thing I thought was missing. I think maybe a photo of the grotto by Algona built by German POWs. And the rock that one guy paints every year supporting our troops.

I am from NW Iowa originally too and would’ve never thought of there being Hungarian descendants but see that Kossuth is a Hungarian name.
