I'm driving 10 hours for the Kansas State game... What is your excuse?

I used to like watching games at home, but having watched the away games this year I hate it. They give you the stupid angles and feel they need to zero in on a player on the sidelines while the team is set on the field and then snap back. I just want to see the game and replays. And cheerleaders. I don’t object seeing them .

Yeah the one thing about seeing it live is you can watch a play develop, what's going on with the back end of the defense, etc. It's why I'm a big advocate for the skycam view of games and wish it were normalized.

That all takes place between the 2-3 minute TV time outs, 5-10 breaks between quarters while somehow being within hearing distance of the person who thinks they're going to change the call from 1000 feet away.

This type of discussion is always pretty dumb because each side ******* about the other. So I'm going to contribute to the dumbness again. ;)

But I will never understand someone who thinks watching the game at home is better than in person. Since we are talking about family and all of that, my best family memories are games that I attended with my dad or mom or siblings. I can absolutely ******* guarantee that the memories I have from this season in Jack Trice with my family will trump any memories I make on Thursday. And there's nothing quite like being at a game when they play Juicy Wiggle at the best time. Or, this season, when they play Mr. Brightside after taking the lead late and whole stadium is singing.

Honestly I get it with being at home. It’s just such a huge commitment of a day.

TIL clonedude has a family
Don't forget... they are more important to me than any football game too! Terrible I know.

I have two grown children... and I'm VERY proud of both of them... and a wonderful wife that I've been married to for 30 years as well. Can you imagine?? A person as horrible as me!!

I've been at every game since 2004.

Somehow I still make every holiday with my family and my wife's. There's plenty of holidays, birthdays and I spend a great deal of time with all of them all year long.

There's only 6 or 7 of these home games every year. We don't have to tailgate the whole time either for just one game. It's a 3-8 hour commitment at most for just about anyone who lives in the state of Iowa depending on commutes to/from. (My dad in his 70s will be driving 2 hrs each way from Eastern Iowa).

Wear long johns/gloves/beanies/coats/wool socks and bring a blanket.

Plus, I doubt we see tickets at this low of a price for quite awhile.

So basically...there is no excuse for *most* people in the area (I'm sure some have legitimate issues in getting to JTS and that's fine, stay home).

But imo - in person atmosphere for a big win or exciting game will ALWAYS beat sitting at home on a couch, I'm sure some introverts will disagree and that's fine. It wasn't that long ago that we couldn't even watch in person due to a pandemic. I'll never take live sporting events for granted after remembering it literally wasn't allowed most of an entire season.

Go Cyclones!

We hold our family Thanksgiving that day.

Many people have WAY more important things to do, or WAY more important reasons why they might not be attending a football game.

Pollard will be there. You can tell him in person that he puts too much emphasis on national runner up cross country teams.

Going to my first family Thanksgiving dinner since my dad died in 2018 out of state. Will be the last time I see my sister before she flies to India till the spring.

I had thought about trying to make it back in time but I'm not sure I'll leave in time Saturday to drive back in time for the game.

I don't really like this weekend (Thanksgiving) as much as I did growing up.

Dad died on Black Friday.
3 years later, my mom passed on the Sunday following Thanksgiving.
Was told the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving last year to start thinking about saying goodbye to my dog or to consider it.

It'd be nice to have a win over K-State Saturday. Big picture, won't change the concept of the week. But it'd be nice to be able to put a nice drop of positive into the bucket

Is it even worth going if it's not going to beat the coldest game on record of 8 °F (−13 °C) at kickoff. This game needs double record potential for my interest. ;)

It's a little like being within a few inches of having the most snowfall ever during winter. Might as well get one extra storm in and break the damn record so you can say you did it.

Might as well have the coldest game in stadium history be meaningful instead of the 2013 game. Though that season also had the hottest game in stadium history so there's a cool bookend thing going there.
