Tomorrow, Chris Williams and I will be recording our latest Fawcast and our guest will be Kenny White out of Las Vegas.
Kenny formerly ran a Nevada Sportsbook and owned Las Vegas Sports Consultants.
Their job was to set the lines that the sportsbooks would then offer to bettors.

Ever wonder where the spread comes from and how they determine it? Kenny knows exactly how this is done as he was the one doing it for many years. He is a sports betting EXPERT so if that is your thing, you will not want to miss this episode.

Also, if you have any questions you want us to ask him, let me know here.

Ask him about the '96 Bulls vs. '17 Warriors theoretical matchup!

Should be an interesting one!

My questions would be why did he get out of the game (if he did)? And also what is the betting culture like within the industry, like did he personally make bets during this time period he was setting lines and how that is perceived locally.

I've also always liked stories about rigging of games. I'd ask him if he thinks this could happen in the modern age, or if he thinks it still does? Point shaving, etc.

One more. What does he look for betting a line? Ones that seem to good to be true. How to spot a line that may be set to force betting on each side, but maybe heavily favors a particular outcome.

How has Twitter and the sports blogosphere changed the game for sports betting? Are bettors and fans truly more informed or do they just think that they are?

I'd also be curious to see if he knows if the availability of publicly available analytical data (e.g. Kenpom) has affected Vegas sportsbooks.

I'd like to know how they determine what to offer prop bets on and even just how the behind the scenes on prop bets work

Great question! I think there is a lot of meat to this one. I would think that a lot of people perceive that it makes them smarter/more informed, when it really misleads them due to bias of the sources.

How would he bet on the +2 line for the Hokeye game?

Seriously, ask him to explain what is going on with a close line like that. I would like to hear a true betting expert explain how the line is set and how it moves.

I've got an easy question.
Just ask him to provide the exact formula for coming up with the lines.

Thanks.

I'd like to know how much of the opening line is based on sports/game data and how much is based off of betting trends.

How does the type of team effect the spread? e.g. Ball control vs. up tempo.
I think the last Troy Davis season ISU beat the spread every game because we could run the ball and eat clock.
