It's a regular season award, though. How could potential playoff performance be taken into account?
It's subjective. I just think what Purdy is doing is impressive especially relative to his post season potential.

With the success of Hall and Purdy it still blows my mind why last year wasn't better than it was but I guess that is why we had some changes this year......

What an odd matchup! I know the NFL rotates everything, but I do not "remember" a single Jets-49ers game in my lifetime. I know they have played in the past four years at least, it just never rings a bell.
They do not place each other in 2023, but 49ers travel to Mpls next year - catch Brock in person.

It does beg some questions, that is for sure. I also don’t know how he’s played this clean against NFL defenses given some of the turnover problems he had here.

The funniest thing is that I have seen them win a Playoff Game! @ Cincinnati in January 2010. My only NFL Playoff Game was won by the JETS!

I also saw them when I was kid with Joe Namath at QB vs. the Boston Patriots @ Legion Field in 1970.

Finally, I saw them play in the old sombrero @ Tampa Bay in the Bucs creamsickle uniform days.

How is that for an odd ball NY Jets Tri-fecta?
I saw the Jets play the Bears in Soldier Field.

Joe Namath lead the Jets from behind for the victory.

Not surprisingly that was the only game all year where he didn’t look completely washed up.

When does next years schedule come out? Jets/Niners would be must see TV.
Schedule dates usually come out after the draft. The opponents are already known and they wouldn’t play unless they met in the Super Bowl. Which we would all love to see that! Recruiting dream!

Lol typical cyclone fans. Purdy is the run away winner of this award and yet some members of our fan base are making arguments for Christian ******* Watson. Hilarious.

I think Purdy should win it. I know a couple of other rookies have had good years, but what Purdy has done at the QB position is unbelievable. Rookie QBs don't typically do what Purdy has done. It is not uncommon for a rookie RB or WR to have a good year.

I agree schematically but the back end of the defense struggled in 2021 and the special teams had weird moments too.

Since Brock came in, the 49ers offensive output shot up ~11pts/game in lieu of what it was with jimmy G. Name me a rookie that has had more of an impact on their teams success this year (maybe I’m thinking more along the lines of “mvp” type of value but the point still stands)?

I've come around to thinking he might.

Walker or Olave will win it, they aren't going to give it to a guy who only played 1/3rd of the year.

Pierce should win it but he won't, he rushed for almost 1,000 yards in only 13 games on a horrible offense.

Ya, no. While Watson may be specious name to throw out, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, KWIII, and Tyler Allgeier all have strong cases than Brock to win the award.

Tyler Allgeier lol. Come on man. What's the most important position in football? A 7th round rookie taking over a Super Bowl contender mid way through the season and making the team significantly better just doesn't happen. And you want to give the award to a backup RB for a terrible Falcons team lol.

B Hall was on his way of winning this til he got injured. Makes me wonder how they wasn’t a better team when we had Kolar, Allen, Hutchison, Hall and Purdy beings how we had 2 future NFL rookie of the year on the same team. looks like we should of changed OC a lot earlier.

I don't think you can over state the dependence of our scheme on OL play. I agree... very disappointing when you consider the NFL talent at skill positions (QB, RB, TE x2, WR). But, our scheme requires physical play & winning at the LOS. They love moving down the field 5 yds at a time. Once that is established, taking some shots.

I don't think that overall style changes (which is fine). But they need to develop NFL caliber OL every year if they are going to do that. To me, they are at least 3 yrs late on changing out the OL coach. Should have happened after the loss to ND imho (last time we changed the S&C director).

Last thing, I love seeing Purdy succeed. But I will say he landed in the perfect spot. Not saying anyone could do what he is doing... but I just think his skill set matches up with the team / coach very well. Very happy for him.

That was exactly my point in bringing Watson up. Not that he should win the award, but that great performance in a small sample of games, while impressive, probably requires more, when it comes to winning OROY.

agree... 2021 is more of an issue than 2022 in my opinion.

I think these changes should have been made even earlier, but at least after 2021. I guess better late than never. I am excited for the new OL coach. Hope the talent is there and we are one off season away from huge strides at OL. But I would expect it to take at least 2 years.. we will see.
