the ISU Alumni Association or whatever it is. I don't really care, as I can't afford to donate at this time. However, I was talking to this guy who "um" had this "um" nervous "um" problem with talking on the phone. I was on the phone for 5 minutes. In that time, the person I was talking with did "Um" 73 times.

73 times. In under 5 minutes. I don't even know what was said because I was so distracted by "um"s.

Does it make you feel good to make light of others problems? Really I have a hard time understanding why this should be of interest to anyone. Hope you feel better.

And no, I don't have a speech impediment, which is exactly what that is.

I get calls from them all the time. Next time I am going to tell them if they call back I am stopping donations to ISU all together.

Have to agree that when people say ummm it is very annoying and distracting. However it is not as annoying as people who say like at the beginning of every sentence.

Since we are lifetime members, we get very few calls. They are usually college students doing the calling heard a lot of "y'know" type of calls.

Saying "like" or "um" is very annoying, especially when you notice it and it draws your attention away from what is really being said. With that being said, I'm sure I used to say those things a lot when I got nervous in front of a group of people, but after taking Speech 212, my problems were solved. Thanks, ISU!

Saying "um" because you don't know what else to say is not a speech impediment.

They have called me every day for like a month straight. Honestly I have no intention of re-upping simply because they have been so freaking annoying about it.

I don't have a home phone, so I have had to put my cell as the way to reach me. That means my cell = my home phone. I get those calls sometimes.

I "worked" for the ISU Foundation for about a day and a half. Without going into detail, I'm just saying, NEVER donate money to them. Ever. Under any circumstance.
