As I can recall, when we switched to the I-state from the swirling bird logo, many people were upset with this becasue it didn't distinguish us well or something like that. Well today I think I found possibly the worst logo ISU (or Iowa Agriculture College as it was called then) has ever used.

It was in the late 1800's and on the track uniforms. I could barely figure out what letters were in this one. but here ya go.

Here is a link to other logos. Is there any other logo that you guys truely miss or would love brought back?

The new logo and the 80's Tornado logo (posted above) are the two best by a long shot, IMO. Cy in the Tornado w/"ISU" running through him looked like something a team from the WAC would put on their helmets. I do like the punching Cy (current secondary) but I was never a big fan of Cy holding the "ISU". The best part about the new logo is that it's simple and it doesn't look cheesy or cartoonish. I think it will age well, and I hope we don't change it.

I would like to see 'punching Cy' back on the basketball court (without holding ISU on his chest)

I'm glad we got rid of the "ISU" in Cy, but still kept the punching Cy. I-State logo and shouldn't be changed for a LONG time. It works. The football jerseys as well, shouldn't be changed expcept if we create like a gold alternate or decide to go with throwbacks for a game or something.

A gold alternate would actually be really cool!! You should send Pollardini an email about that one.

did we change our accent color or whatever its call from that horrible blue to black? i have been seeing I-state stuff in black and basically nothing in that blue. personally i like our colors on a black shirt. really stands out. would be kinda cool to do a blackout game and give everyone in the stands a black shirt to wear. of course you would pay for that with a higher ticket price. butttt maybe im being to generic with that idea.

They ditched the blue accent, and instead have two types of cardinal (regular and shade) and two types of gold (regular and highlight). From what I've seen, it's been typical to use the darker shade of cardinal to replace the blue. If you want to dive in deep to the visual identity, you can check out this PDF.

very interesting. Thanks for that link stumpy! I couldn't believe how much blue we had in our logo and stuff before we changed logos. Before that blue did we ever use any other accent colors besides different shades of cardinal and gold?
