^^ I'm not a huge Steele fan. I'm a fan, but it's not all I talk about on this board. I don't put his picture as my avtar. My name isn't FootballInCali.

Those of you that say you have inside knowledge of this team know exactly what I'm talking about. It occurred in the KU game.

Did I miss something here?

It was very obvious that this was the case. The team is behind JB. I could tell that from the first snap he took.
JB will get the call and I don't think there is much question about that although coaches will play it close to the vest to get the best out of everyone.
If I'm wrong, I'll gladly eat crow, but my opinion is this race is 95% JB starts, 5% SJ starts.

Wow! 95% sure it's JB? Personally I would be more inclined to believe this will be a very close race between Jantz & JB. If its truly 95% there wouldn't even be a competition presently. I may lean toward Jantz, but I am not biased in my thinking like you appear to be. May the best man win! Either way this is a good thing for Cyclone football.

Neither were good at throwing the ball last year to be honest. They need to improve significantly for the team to win more than 6 games this year. IDC who wins the job, it won't matter unless they play ALOT better....

I'm actually kind of curious to see if Sam Richardson will get into the mix at all. CPR definitely kept it pretty open last year. probably will have the same policy this year. I think that if the team is struggling we might have a decent chance of seeing him out there.

I think CPR said that SR is the #3 at this point but I imagine that CPR is keeping it pretty open at this point.

I am waiting for the moment in the spring game where SR outshines SJ and JB which will lead to a lot more speculation on here.

And last year there was a very slim chance of JB seeing the field. Crazy stuff happens

Last year Rhoads clearly stated it was a 3 way competition (after capello left) and that no two were ahead. This year he clearly stated that SR is not quite there yet to be considered in the competition. Let alone, "Sam being the man".

My Grandson was a Soph. when JB was a Senior on the Garland, Tx football team. We are friends of Duke and Laura Barnett, Jared's parents. I am partial to Jared for several reasons. He knows the playbook, has a great football mind, makes quick reads and can make changes as he goes. The big thing is the way he carries himself and the confidence his team mates have in him.
My Grandson has a scholarship to WVU. Don't be surprised if we show up in Ames with the Barnetts to enjoy the game. I do hope ISU does well until that game.

I think the simpler playbook helps Jantz more. Barnetts biggest benefit was being in the system longer and knowing the playbook better. A better grasp of the playbook and likely improved mechanics and look out for Jantz.

Steele has hit the weight room hard in the off season and looks like the Hulk. This is going to be a good battle for the starting job.

You two should hang out

Fantastic bump. I have yet to see if I posted anything in this thread, though.
