First, ESPN+ is incredibly easy to access with almost no effort

Second, if you think cyclones.tv was great but ESPN+ is too difficult or hurts national visibility, I don't even know how to respond

Third, if $6 is a bridge too far, Iowa State is screwed going forward. Losing your $6 isn't going to prove any point to ESPN but it is going to show them that Iowa State isn't a legitimate player to be accounted for in any future realignment decisions.

Streaming is the future.

To that end, it's going to and is happening with all the other conferences. SEC is going to have games on ESPN+. Big Ten has basketball games only available online. ACC will have stuff only available on ACCNX. Yeah, the Big 12 is the only one with a conference football game being streamed right now, but it's going to happen to the others. The Big 12 was basically the first to play ball on this stuff is all, mainly in the hope of continuing to get paid.

to be honest, I like ESPN+. I get it with my Verizon plan so I don’t pay any extra for it and I stream everything else anyway so the sooner this happens, the better IMO.

Duh!
Pollard: "Whats most important going forward is activation"

Fans: "I'm not paying six bucks."

I think our fans think ESPN has a vendetta against Iowa State. No, they just don't think we have fans that are rabid enough and will spend enough to support them like other schools.
And some fans he want to help espn make this case for them, in an effort to shake their fist at espn. Irony is lost on these people.

While some of these posts are laughable, this is a very good example of why streaming sucks for program exposure. There is a large segment of the population that either doesn’t understand it or isn’t willing to pay extra/log in to something to watch a game. You’ll get the die hards and zero casual fans.
A sample size of one is not indicative of “a large segment of the population.”
where I think streaming hurts is getting the casual fan to watch. Watching on espn plus or Amazon or whatever means people are less likely to find our games. We had good numbers on Saturday. There’s no way those numbers would have been as good on streaming.
Hopefully the next media contract in 2025 or so, for the Big 12 will be very workable and larger than some of us think? Hopefully it will have a sizable number of games on a couple of the main network channels (to catch the casual fans, etc.), fingers crossed, in addition to the inevitable streaming choices for the rest of us and diehards.

So you are recommending Cyclone fans go ahead and purchase the espn+? Will espn be able to track the increased number of Cyclone viewers? I can see it. Is that how it will work?

I'm all for doing my best to support ISU. I should go ahead and get espn+ and not just listen to John and Eric? My little espn boycott is doing more harm than good? I'll get signed up tomorrow if you recommend.

Ive spent thousands of dollars going to road games, but i wont spend any to watch on ESPN+. ESPN killed the Big East, now they tried to kill the Big 12. Screw them.

id love to watch the WVU v ISU game, but im not.
Ill just have to listen to it on radio.

The Big East killed the Big East when they got the raging hard on for football and added schools like South freaking Florida.

Yes, they know how much their content is viewed.

UNI gets a report every month on who watches their games on ESPN+ down to the zip code. So, yes, ESPN is fully aware of what fan bases are engaged.

I'm supposed to be eligible for the Disney, hulu, espn+ package from Verizon for free, but it wouldn't take. Anyone else have that?
Sorry, slightly off topic.
