Iowa and ISU are still pretty much the class of wrestling based upon Intermat's rankings, although Minnesota and OSU would give either us run in a dual meet.

ISU and Ok St. ave 9 wrestlers ranked in the top twenty, with MN and Iowa with eight. ISU and Iowa have 8 each in the top 10 in their weight classes.

Meanwhile OSU has just 5 ranked wrestlers, 4 in the tiop 10. Giving points basd on rankings (20, 19, 18, ...etc), the rankings this week would go:

Iowa - 132
ISU - 130
OkSU - 113
Mn - 92
OhSU - 67

These are the only ones I looked at but there are probably several other teams that would score higher than Ohio State.

good analysis, I wonder (and I haven't looked) if their (OhSU) strength of schedule is helping them out?

I thought the same thing about OSU at #3, but Oh well. I haven't seen Okie St wrestle, but they have a bunch on new wrestlers, it will be interesting to see how they vs Iowa coming up.

Hey, don't complain. This weekend ISU has tOSU and Maryland on their side of the bracket and Iowa has Minnesota and Central Michigan. On paper, we seem to have the easier draw.

When you go weight-by-weight and look at the rankings, we actually split even with Iowa, Minnesota, and OkSt. We win 6-3 over OhSU, with one weight (157) where neither has a ranked wrestler. Of course, this does not factor in the likelihood of bonus points.

The split with UI and UM is pretty much what happened. While we split with two of the other three, without double-checking, I think Iowa actually has an advatange on all three in the comparison.

Where are the brackets? I thought Cornell was returning a tough team from last year's 3rd place finish. Is that not true?

Benifit of a soft schedule, We will find out how tough they are this weekend. They have some tallent, but not the depth.

Cornell is a much more tallented team. One I am kind of worried about matching up with especially if we are not a full strength.

OSU has the spare money to pour into wrestling and they are doing it. They are the perfect example of "buying" a winning program.

Ohio State has three potential finalists. The current tournament point system is weighted towards higher placing instead of depth, so the point gap between first and third is much more significant than fifth and seventh. Ohio State should finish top 5 for sure.

Ohio State does have some holes in their line up but they are very strong at the other weights. I was under the Impression that Nickerson may wrestle??? If he isnt 100% I hope he does as Long is wrestling very well and it might be a good time to wrestle him and help our seeding at Nationals. Cornell would be a much harder match up for us than Ohio State in my opinion.

Seems to be lots of different opinions on Gallicks availability and his injury. I for one if he isnt close to 100% say sit him down and dont have him wrestle multiple matches in a short time frame until Big 12's and nationals. Save him for day one and wrestle day two seems like a good option if he is available.

Even if Nickerson doesn't wrestle they have a very good freshman backup who while Nickerdoodle was out earlier in the year had risen in the rankings to like 10th....125 will be a very tough match w/ or w/out nickerdoodle...

I think we just found out why they were seeded #3. A 27-14 win over Cornell. Pucillo is wrestling and appears to be doing well.

i have an idea that hasnt been presented yet... they are #3 because us and iowa are ranked higher and everyone else is ranked lower.
