i don't know why but I fear OSU more than any other team in the league the past few years.

OSU and their fans are a decent bunch, but trust me they have never forgotten that nite game in Ames and would like nothing better to pay us back. Us going into the OSU game w/o a conference loss they would really like to fix that problem.

As an ISU fan I've gone through way too many nut cups over the year to look too far ahead right now. Just take it week by week and win the game at hand before looking any further ahead. This excitement could just as easily become toxic negativity by this time next week if we look past TT and lay an egg in that game. It's 2020 and a lot of crazy things can still happen to wreck this too like some positive COVID cases that affect a game getting played or keeps some key players out or let's not hope a key play or 2 suffers an injury that hurts our chances too. We are 3 games into the season, I love the passion and excitement but let's not get too carried away until we get through this month and see where we stand.

I don't even wear a nut cup anymore since I'm so callused.

And in that 2002 season, the Cyclones really fell off after a great start. Texas Tech is next. That's it for me for this thread until mid November.

Easiest realistic path - win balance of home games and KU on road.

That leaves 7-2 with losses to Texas and Okie State.

To get the #2 seed (assuming OSU wins) you would just need Texas to drop 2 more games and TCU and Kansas State to lose 1 more (second are much more likely than the first).

That Texas Tech choke was a killer.

Going into that Oklahoma game we were ranked 9th and people were hyping Seneca for the Heisman then we just got embarrassed on national television and the rest of the season was one disappointment after another including just an ugly game at the end of the season where we got embarrassed at home by a 5-6 UConn team that sealed our fate of having to play a home game against Boise State on the smurf turf for our bowl game.

Have seen enough ISU melt downs over the years that we are way too early into this season to be looking any further ahead than the game in front of us and I would bet CMC has been doing everything he can to keep the team focused on that as well. Things feel different under this staff than previous staffs but we still need to go out there and earn it first.

It's kind of odd, but I am cheering for Oklahoma to beat Texas this weekend so that we have a two game lead on both Texas and Oklahoma. If that happens and we win every game we are favored in, we can afford to go 1-1 between Texas and Oklahoma State and be guaranteed. At the same time, I don't see Oklahoma State any worse than splitting between Oklahoma and Texas.

There can't be many teams in the history of college football that played four road games against ranked teams in a five-week span.

Regardless we still lost the 4 by a combined score of 169-47 so don't think it really mattered where the game was played as we pretty much got smoked in 3 of the 4. Can probably go back and look over the past 20 years and find some rough stretches where we played a string of ranked teams.

My "Oh Daaaamn!" moment when I first saw the standings was seeing OU just above Kansas at the bottom of the league. Don't see that very often.
Hangin' their hat on that impressive win over <goes to big12sports.com> Missouri State. 'Cause <checks big12sports.com again> Coastal Carolina was brutal.

In a normal year, maybe but the Big X and SEC will have no non-con games. There is ZERO chance ISU makes the playoffs this year. Even an undefeated year would have been a stretch but likely in.
I just can't quite agree with this. We've seen chaos take its toll on the playoff selection before. If ISU runs the table, beating otherwise undefeated OkState twice, there most definitely is a (slight) chance. It may take every non-PAC12-blue-blood-not-named-Bama-and-Clemson to have 3 losses, or 2 bad losses late in the season, but it could happen. Especially in 2020.

I feel like we can take Texas down. They’re not really all that good. Breece and Purdy can carve up that defense.
