I wonder if they are repaving all the lots as well? Many lots are in very rough shape.

That still eliminates a lot of traffic for the sides and south exits. It ought to speed that exit process up a little.

Except 80% of them will turn due south and plug up University/Elwood drive. Always ticks me off when you go thru sorority circle then go south then you get to the road that is south of Reiman gardens and there are a whole line of cars trying to turn back east instead of going over to So. Dak. on 30 .

Depends where I park for BB, if I end up in that lot straight south of C.Y. Stephens and north of the alumni center that is a quick way to get out instead of going south. Lots of the time I park in that ramp north of RCA next to the business building and walk over, then when I leave just go north or west depending on where I want to go.

In my younger days an occasional loop thru the circle during early fall or those first nice days of spring wasn't unheard of. Also walking south along Friley beach may have been may have been a good way to leave campus.

It'll be a long time before parking lot repaving happens. I don't think people actually realize how expensive that will be.

It's over $20M, and it's in the latest 5-year capital plan. All of the entities that have a stake in the lots between JTS and Hilton will have to figure out who's paying what percentage.

I know the north entrance is complete when I drove by last week. Didn't pay close enough attention to the parking lots.

This is C1/C2 only. Expanding the high-roller lots. Adding a postgame exit to eastbound Lincoln Way.

Thanks for the link. It seems pretty unusual for them to be so far along on the actual project before I've heard anything about it.

Also, it is interesting that they are going to change the parking pattern north of Hilton from long east/west lanes to short north/south lanes.

Bingo. And I'm guessing a project with that big of a price tag and no return isn't high on the list of things athletics wants to be spending money on.

All of this parking that is being done will be assigned by numbered stall. All top donors will have a reserved space assigned to them based on donation number. Also, I believe that when they use the north exit they will not be allowing the cars to turn south on University. This could change but it was the last I heard from ISU.

Wonder what the amount of stalls they have for football parking. I could see them doubling parking passes. If 10,000 stalls, that would clear a half mil annually. Not enough but a big dent in that.

Sounds like an improvement to add more elite donor spots north of Hilton. The past couple years it seemed like mid-tier donors (e.g. Cardinal) got pushed closer to Jack Trice. Which is somewhat expected since Hilton was selling out. However, it was frustrating walking past high donor lots that were half empty. Somewhat understandable since it would be hard to have a lot area serve two donor levels.

The lots are getting in rough shape, so it would be nice to have repaving on a short list of projects. The one project I would like to see prioritized is sidewalk areas for pedestrians along the driving lanes in the A,B, C and D lots. Too many people are in a big hurry to leave after games and with pedestrians walking down the roadways, more than a few times last winter there were near car/pedestrian accidents.

Agree with another poster that Athletic Department should look at traffic flow around stadium. Too much cross traffic. It would seem like the two lots just south of Center Drive should have to exit using Center Dr and then have to go North on Beach or University Ave and from Lincoln Way people can make their way home. It kills traffic flow for the south-most lots when cars exiting from Center Drive go south and add to the congestion.

With the increase of 8pm games, anything to get people home earlier the better. Plus if traffic flow were better it might decrease the mass exodus by fans between 2-4 minutes left in the game.

Bolded should be a priority.
