Random thought time. With the warm weather settled in I got to thinking about the days of youth in the summer. I grew up in and my parents still live in a split foyer with not much room for the ac/furnace and for whatever reason when they installed it they did not route a tube for the condensation drain over to a floor drain (technically there is a wall in the way but when they replaced it they put a hole in the wall to route the drain). This meant that we had a five gallon bucket to collect that we then had to dump in the drain or more commonly, carry outside to water mom's flowers. This was my introduction to the fact that there is water in the air.

Did a a couple quick sojourns into the vacant house yard next door. Did bit of quick cleanup by pulling weeds around the driveway and the retaining wall facing me. Sort of limited to 2' - 3' tall big ass weeds. Well, except the half dozen 3' foot tall thistles, going to need to think those over some. Also mowed the yard portion next to me.

Been four months this weekend since the dude died and 7 months since the bank started foreclosure so who knows how long it's going to be neglected so thought I'd so some neighbor handyman action. Plus, pride of ownership comes into play since I helped build that house in 1978-1980** and was good friends with the original peeps there. I hate seeing the place look like crap. :(

** The Carlisle "rubber" membrane roof I helped install is freakin' 45 years old!

It's crazy how much head wounds bleed...all that capillary action and a very thin layer of tissue over the skull...
I thought of thus as I was telling one of the new residents about when to staple vs suture a head lac. When I had just an R1 I knew how to do head lacs pretty well so jumped on the first one that came in trying to show my competency. Had a picture perfect procedure and my attending was saying well done then looked at the stapler I had used and I saw him just drop his jaw.

I had only used 4 staples of a 20 staple single use sterile device and had no idea that there was a smaller one that had 5. According to my attending at the time that was a $250 mistake as that was the cost differential of the two devices and I had to throw the remaining staples in the 20 stapler away.

I ended up just pocketing the device to take home to add to my kit because I was too mortified to throw it away.

Just ran across this on the Roku Channel last night. It is from 2020 and only 16 minutes long. I enjoyed it.
(I had to subscribe to Fox Nation to get it - 2 months for $0.99).

Jeff is such a down to earth guy. He is out working/organizing his garage when the video starts.

Still haven't seen it. I bought a ticket for opening weekend Sunday on the Tuesday prior, but then the next day I met this wonderful lady and ended up going out that Sunday so I missed it.
Take her to it. It's mindless fun and is sounds like you've been doing enough with her even if it's not her thing she'll roll with it. Glad you've got a new lady friend :)

There are more people with this than many people realize. While not something you want to have, it seems manageable for most.
My mom was diagnosed with it some years ago. Although I think it was not determined right away.

Lew has it; they finally figured out 18 months later that it was probably what caused his stroke. He takes meds and is doing fine.
