Old man 'they don't make them like they used to' rant. About a year and a half ago we had to get a new dishwasher; ended up getting a Maytag. About a week ago it stopped working - had a repairman come out and tells me the wash pump needs replaced.

I get it from a capitalist perspective, its better for companies to make stuff that needs replaced. Just annoying something like that goes bad in under two years in what I thought was a good brand.

Wait? You guys have had more than one job your entire career? I found it and stuck to it. 35+ years and they treated me well at retirement.
I followed my ex thru four different states while he advanced his career. Each new place I had to start over. When I was 28 we came here to Iowa. A year later I was hired on at ISU. I was there, in the same job, same office, same merit classification, until my retirement. 33 years. That long enough for ya? :D

Well, yeah. Once you arrived at the promised land, no need to look elsewhere. Congrats on the career. I was an adjunct at another university for 12 years and applied to Iowa State late in my career (thought it would be a perfect wind down, fade out). But I didn't meet their muster.
