I was just wondering when the FB transfer portal period is and how much damage we can expect? Well, the FB transfer portal period is April 16 - 25th. Hang on tight.

The damage will be rather high for many teams, including us, losing players, or having to up the NIL ante to keep players. Many players will test the portal market (with almost no restrictions now), before it is more regulated next year.

Hate to say it, but get the nut cups out and ready.
I think Brent gave us a preview. If you think the basketball portal was crazy, buckle up. A whole lot more money to be made and paid in football. I'm sure we'll focus on retaining key players, and the rest will just fall where it may.

25 more of these portal announcements to come from isu, fcs and d2 will be on the prowl, nearly all walkons will be gone from teams, i would say this go round 50-60 percent of kids wont go same level or wont go at all

I could be way off base, but I never hear #'s re: strength-related, oline-otherwise (bench, squat, deadlift).
I can't pinpoint l particular teams, but such #'s are often touted.
Are we weaklings?
Sidenote, via combines, Jaylen knocked out damn impressive bp #'s, despite his cb size.
I'd like to hear more of this from Cyclone Twitter!
Clanton has spoken highly of them, but this doesn't worry me.

I often wonder how many of these guys the jump to the portal end up in a worse situation. Maybe some will end up without a spot.

Right now there is a lot of money floating around, but if they ever get a cap on things, things will get better for the smaller schools.

In retrospect, I definitely read Clayton talking about them publicly not long ago being about trying to keep them (show them some love and back up what you've been saying privately about a chance at playing time this season). You would assume he knew they might be entering the portal when he was talking about them.

They are definitely a depth loss, but they also seemed to be penciling in as 2nd string guys on the two deep to start the season.

Money! Secondary is playing time. See post #17.
We’ll know based on where they end up, but I’d guess playing time. I’m sure someone will throw some cash at them, but I can’t imagine the market is super hot for young inexperienced O-line guys (that could leave again in a year).

I would venture to say that being well away from home, no future in ACTUAL playing time and and what clanton see's and what the captain of the ship and his peanut counters that crunch the roster to 105 are two different things, they are goin to have to be down to roughly 95 players to accomadate the rest of the freshman incoming and save space for transfers that they have to have, 105 rule is going to be life changing for schools, players and all involved, Scholly guys are GOING to get cut, just how it is now. one day after fall camp the 105 has to be in effect, you loose three guys 2 days after season practice starts you got 102 on the roster!

You seem to have gotten off at the wrong station.

Yeah, no.

This period is for kids who went through Spring practice, and aren’t happy with how the depth chart looks.

We may lose some due to crowded rooms, but not to bidding wars. That was the last portal period.

Oh, and to the 105 roster limit. The Helton twins just did a couple of guys a big favor.

The Portal is packed now.

There will be bidding wars, maybe not ISU players worthy of it, but Cals RB is in a big bidding war, Colorado has a Dlineman worth a pretty penny. piles and piles of kids will never see the field again after this portal season

Well, my whole point was “not ISU’s players”. So, there we go.

Maybe after the season when some more players have emerged, but I’m not worried about now.

In JEF I trust. I hope anyway. Maybe one day soon we will get thru this crazy period.

Playing time is what I'm thinking too, and probably being closer to home. I could see them going to a Cali school like Fresno State or San Diego State and maybe play right away.

Sad thing is we will see fewer and fewer home grown talent kids on the roster, 3 star kids are even going to struggle to fill roster spots, i would look for the recruiting territory to vastly expand

~Train them, feed them, educate them, house them, nurture them, before they play a down, in addition to spending massive $$ to recruit them
Then they bail Good gawd~
~Previous poster is correct.
I'll wait to check the depth chart the night before wheels-up to Dublin.
