Transferred to a conference foe…ASU.

If you've been on ASU campus in warm weather (most the time) its no surprise young males find it a place to stay. :D

This is in poor taste.

If you're going to leave can you at least find a team that doesn't play in our league?

I can't wait for the powers that be to put rules on this crap. It is sort of laughable at this point. The NFL draft showing highlights of guys who played at three schools constantly. It is NOT beneficial to the athletes to have it set up with no rules.

Actually quite the opposite. It is very beneficial for athletes that there are no rules.

Sad thing is we will see fewer and fewer home grown talent kids on the roster, 3 star kids are even going to struggle to fill roster spots, i would look for the recruiting territory to vastly expand
Ummm…no?

Council Bluffs’ Garret Rutledge is a sleeper kid the coaches are excited about. Nevada’s Carson Rhodes is impressing. Will Tompkins (early enrolled) had scholarship offers from all over the place.

There’s a rising ‘27 kid, Will Slagle, from Grinnell everyone is after—and he’s not the only one.

And Tyler Miller is looking like a ‘26 draft pick.

Why do people just make up stuff wholesale to get upset about?

We got Xavier Townsend form UCF. Goes both ways

BTW, for 2026 we have six Nebraska kids committed (fine with me!) and but one Iowa kid. Unusual, it seems.

Should we expect more Iowa kids before this class closes, or is this recruiting season unusual?

In the article it talks about their high school being an ASU pipeline. That likely had something to do with it.

The last o lineman that transferred from ISU to ASU was not missed. I forget his name.

I’m not saying this is an apples to apples scenario.

$EC has a rule that spring portal entries CANNOT transfer within the conference

This is an unusual year.

A. It’s unusually thin. That may change before December.

B. Three are in Iowa’s back yard, two already committed.

C. The safety in our back yard (Valley) sees a crowded room, and is looking elsewhere.

D. We have a shot with at least one of the two linebackers, Kasen Thomas. DeShawn Ross had a knee injury last fall, and is a prime wrestling prospect as well.

E. For some odd reason, Texas A&M is poking around Iowa. Yeah, I know the connection, but it just screams “Augh! We suck recruiting Texas kids, better find some far away who don’t know we suck!”

Hope that helps.

You must not know the statistics on guys who hit the portal voluntarily, and then never find a school. There’s lots of those. There’s also high school seniors who suffer when incoming transfer portal guys come in (less scholarships).

OSU? I will work with difficulty to control what I might write here. A-hem. I'm old, so I must be a gentleman.

BUT frickin' OSU! By the gods, man, how could you!

Ok, I'm old, I say again, but I've got it under control. (When I say old, I recall the Armory and watching ISU-OSU duals in the 1960s. Man. . . .)

There will never be a rule to guarantee a player must be accepted at another school if he voluntarily leaves the present school, so no rule will help that example.

When incoming transfer portal guys come in, they also open up a scholarship at the school they left so there is still the same amount of scholarships.

But my comment that players prefer no rules mostly refers to the NIL and freedom of movement.
