If Manziel doesn't win it's rigged. I also think Mariota should at least be there.

How come Manziel gets a pass on two losses, including one where he threw multiple interceptions, but Klein doesn't?

Because he produced a lot more than Klein did. 6 more TDs and 1300 more yards. Klein and MT were there only because they were the best player on two good teams. Really weak Heisman race this year.

Only 6 more TDs with that many more yards...and Johnny was only there because of his system numbers.

And Klein didn't wins because of his system numbers. He rushed for over 1.5 yards more per carry and threw for .7 yards less per attempt. He also completed a higher percentage. No Heisman winner has ever won despite some sort of system advantage except maybe Charles Woodson but even then he wasn't purely a defensive guy. Troy Davis should have won and he only put up his numbers because of the system. Point being, no one is going to overcome the KSU system to win a Heisman unless they are undefeated.

I just want to see a defensive player win. It's supposed to be an award for the most outstanding player, not the most outstanding offensive player on a good team. Manti Teo carried Notre Dame to an undefeated season against a pretty tough schedule. 7 interceptions for a linebacker in one season is insane, to go along with over 100 tackles. I think the Heisman is a joke until a trut full time defensive player actually wins it. Until then its a stupid popularity contest with voters apparently going with whomever ESPN hypes the most (Johnny football).

It's been that way forever. They should rename it "Best Offensive Skill Position Player for a Team Ranked in the Top 10".

That is about right because I don't think it stands for this anymore:

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust ensures the continuation and integrity of this award. The Trust, furthermore, has a charitable mission to support amateur athletics and to provide greater opportunities to the youth of our country. Our goal through these charitable endeavors is for the Heisman Trophy to symbolize the fostering of a sense of community responsibility and service to our youth, especially those disadvantaged or afflicted.
