Are they not playing yet, redshirting? Why would they play O'Korn if they have ANYONE else available?
That was going to be my question. Where are these supposed good QB's?

Peters, freshman, was the QB and a guy recruited by Harbaugh but he got knocked unconscious in the Wisconsin game. Could be the starter against come bowl time if he is alright.

Dylan McCaffrey was one of the top pro-style QB recruits in the country last year. He's a true freshman this year. Obviously a very good get and a player that could make serious noise.
I don't think Harbaugh was very popular in Chicago (with the fans or the team) when he left the Bears. My recollection could be off but I believe that's the case. This is my fear.
The Bears will be hiring a coach next month.
The ownership has a close relationship with Harbaugh since his time there.
Harbaugh will only leave UM if it appears he is moving up, which one could argue the Bears are. Any other college job is lateral at best. Harbaugh had previously said he would consider NFL jobs in the future.
If Harbaugh leaves UofM late, Michigan might be very interested in a coach who can bring an entire staff along and hot the ground running. Campbell would be crazy not to consider them.
If Campbell were to leave ISU hanging in January, there isn't any amount of buyout money that makes you feel good about starting a hiring process that late. There just aren't many good movable chips left in the table at that time.
Ah, thanks. I didn't know that was the case. I knew Speight was out and I remember someone else starting against Wisconsin. My Father In Law is from Michigan so we watched the big game together. Neither of us knew who all was in the pipeline though.
I dont catch your drift, are you saying pick up Candle at ISU next if CMC leaves? Btw just kidding busting your balls on here before man, the more Iowa State fans the merrier
tolfbfan, I have to ask....do you know ISU is just a stepping stone in Campbell's master plan? Not disagreeing, just seeking clarification since that seems to be the gist of your posts.YEP!!!! Balls okay...no problem!

Stepping stone no...I think he could be happy staying. That said, if a big job especially in Big Ten would open or Notre Dame, I think he couldn't say no.
Injured, injured, true freshman. That was going to be my question. Where are these supposed good QB's?

Watched the end of the KSU game at a bar on the way up to Ames for the BB game Saturday and some Hawk fan 2 chairs down from me told me "he'd bet the back 40 that Campbell will be gone and takes one of these job openings." Tried to reason with him that what job that currently is open is at the very least no more than a lateral move to slightly better job than he has right now. He'll turn 38 in 2 days, he's going to have a lot better offers than the likes of Nebraska, Florida, Arkansas, or TN in the coming years if he keeps winning at ISU. He'll have a much better team returning at ISU for next season than he'll have at any job that is currently open so if he is looking to move on to something bigger why wouldn't he stick around ISU for a bit longer and add to his resume than take a job where he'll have a lot less time and patience than he would at ISU to turn things around when you consider just how many 9 and 10 win coaches a program like Nebraska has chewed up and spit out recently.
Didn't matter how I tried to reason with him when we discussed certain openings and the pros and cons to those programs and explain that surely a pay raise and contract extension at ISU is coming his way here very soon too, he thought I was crazy to think there was any chance in hell that Campbell would stick around after this season. Before he left I made sure to get a shot in that at least he doesn't have to worry about his coach leaving anytime soon because Ferentz is locked in with a ridiculous contract through 2025 and paid like a top 10 coach with a bar set that 7 or 8 wins is a "good" season worthy of a bonus. ISU may have to worry about losing Campbell because he's a good coach that is having success at a tough place to win but at least Hawk fans can sleep easy knowing that there is no chance in hell anyone is going to steal Kirk away from them. Didn't get much of a reaction of out him from that one, probably a lot easier to talk trash about another program than it is to defend the high priced mediocrity Iowa has invested in.
I don't think he would really be welcomed back at most places he's been. He's kind of a douche bag.I don't think Harbaugh was very popular in Chicago (with the fans or the team) when he left the Bears. My recollection could be off but I believe that's the case.
After seeing you post on volnation and encouraging posters there about how good Campbell is and they should hope they get him.......
Campbell hasn’t even used his players yet. At least not kids that they have been completely able to develop. He just completed a season where the worst loss was by 10 points to Texas. If progress continues we should expect to be better next year. See no reason for him to go to Nebraska and start over.
