I know some will hate this. But if you watched that game last night you saw a total team effort and a group who bought in and absolutely left it all on the field. Those kids deserved to be in that game despite what many of us, including me, may have thought.

Hats off to those Hawkeye players and coaches. I'll dislike you again soon. But for today, respect.

No doubt they played well and played hard. Still extremely happy they lost!

Yeah they played hard, but they don't every show an ounce of respect for us so I'll never respect them. I'm glad they lost. Looks like Stanford will smack them around in the rose bowl.

Respect for the players? Sure. Respect for their mouthbreathing fanbase? ******* never.

I give Iowa tons of respect for this season. They are a very hard nosed blue collar physical team. Not the most fun to watch in the world, but they get the job done. I wish ISU was more like them in that sense. We're too soft both mentally and physically.

With that said, even Hawk fans have to admit that this season set up just perfectly for Iowa. The thing is though, they took complete advantage of it and will be getting a Rose Bowl berth today because of it. So kudos to them for that.

What I hate about it now is that for the next month I'll have to listen to more and more of their arrogance and put downs. That's the only reason why I cheer for them to lose.... I can't stand their fanbase.

You couldn't ask more of their players or coaches in that game. I am looking forward to CMC bringing similar intensity to our Cyclones.

Iowa Fan on the other hand, their pain and anguish today is sweet.

That fan base makes it impossible to respect or appreciate anything that team accomplishes on the field.

Hopefully they get passed on by the rose bowl and then lose to Notre Dame or Houston in the citrus/peach.

I think we can all agree on their fan base. This isn't about them. It's about a group of kids and coaches who came together and ALMOST did something pretty special. That team has a lot of heart. I generally can't stand watching the Hawks but I was rooting for them based purely on their effort.

Great job by their players all year. Kudos to them.
After it was made known to the public that Kirk Jr. lived in subsidized housing, while on scholarship, and his dad is the highest paid State employee, I won't respect him. People say he's classy and respectful and doesn't care about his salary, blah blah blah. If you live in the same town as your son, and he's on your team, you should know where he lives.

Likely, but it's possible OSU could be selected. Iowa deserves it more, IMO, but there's a chance OSU will go, depending on today's rankings, I believe.

Just honest question...why does Iowa deserve the Rose Bowl over Ohio State? They both lost to Michigan State by 3. Also Ohio State had to play at Michigan (who was the next best team in the Big 10 and whom they absolutely destroyed) which Iowa didn't have to.
Now I agree that Iowa will probably get the nod for the Rose Bowl but more deserving is a stretch in my opinion.

Not to mention the whole rape coverup thing. Sorry, but I'm not going to forget that because his team went 12-0 with a pillow soft schedule. Ferentz can suck a fat one too.

MSU beat OSU at OSU with their backup QB. MSU beat Iowa on a neutral field at full strength.

Not that I'm advocating, just giving a legit reason.

I have a question for all the hawk fans pointing to how they "only" lost by 3. Does margin of victory matter or not? Iowa has crept by awful competition all season long long and all we ever heard was winning and losing is all that matters. Now that Iowa has finally played a team worth a crap and they lost, tell me, which one is it?

tOSU played the 36th toughest schedule. Iowa played the 54th toughest, which includes the additional game vs Sparty. If they didn't make the championship they're SOS would have been in the 70's.
