I know many love to complain about the Harrison Barnes threads "because he's not coming to Iowa State anyway", but would you all at least be willing to try your part to get him to ISU. With all the talk of the UNC's and Duke's impressing HB, why can't we do our part. Is there some way we as Cyclone fans do our part and fill up Hilton on his "unofficial" visit. I mean really let him know that Hilton Magic of old is just waiting in full force to help him as much as possible to win a national title. Anyway would us cyclones fanatics be able to create enough buzz to fill up Hilton for the open practice or whatever they call it to kick off the season and really let Harrison feel the love from cyclone fans that he has never felt before. We need to assure him that cyclone fans are every bit as passionate about basketball as what's their name's fans. And if it doesn't work, at least we tried. So here's my question. Is anyone up for making this happen. Or has everyone already given up. Isn't there a quote out there that goes "be the change you wish to see in the world". My point is if we really want HB at ISU, maybe we should do something about it instead of blaming our coaches or lack of tradition for not getting him. And if he still doesn't come, we move on. But at least we tried. So, who's in and how many more people can you get there?

Even better, how about meeting him at the airport when he returns from his official visits to other schools? A few hundred people at the bottom of the stairs in ISU gear with "We want HB" and "Duke rhymes with Puke" signs is bound to make a great impression. Especially if there's enough folks with band instruments to play "Fights" as he is escorted to baggage claim.

I like this idea, also. And, it would be easier than trying to fill up Hilton.

Even though his visit on November 6 is an exhibition game, we need to fill up Hilton with the students chanting "Barnes Barnes Barnes" all game long. Hopefully UNC-Pembroke does not have a player named Barnes. And we need to do the same thing at Jack Trice the following day. But that will be the last of his college visits and since he's already spent a lot of time at ISU, there's a good chance his mind will be made up by then. That's why we need to have an appropriate airport reception to welcome him back to ISU when he returns from all the other visits.

Harrison will be in Kansas the first weekend of practice for their Midnight Madness.

Do it for Randle, if we even do have a such event.

I am well into a few Sailor Jerry's...so I read this as Kansas, Midget Madness-which was amplified by TBS's recent airing of Wizard of Oz. I had to read three times before I realized what the hell you were saying.

If Monte makes sense after you have been drinking....don't drive.

I kid Monte...I kid.

I support all of the positive ideas that have been posted but I'd caution that derogatory signs for the other schools may not be helpful. I'd recommend that you don't mention the competition. Emphasize the unique support that ISU will provide and make it happen.

I truly believe we have as good a shot as anyone at this point. Obviously I drink from the ISU kool aid trough, but the longer this goes on, the better I feel for some reason?

I think our best shot at getting him would be if he waited until after we played Duke.... and we beat Duke. Deep down, I think he wants to be a Cyclone, but I also think he needs to see that ISU has a bright future ahead.

He wants to be on a great basketball team, one that can go all the way. If he truly starts to believe that ISU is on a path to being able to compete with the Duke's and Kansas' of the world in a couple years... then he will stay home and play for ISU IMO.

I think at the end of ISU's basketball season a year ago, ISU didn't have much of a chance. But I think things have changed some since then. ISU has some young talented players for the future in Colvin, Ejim, and Staten. If HB thinks by adding his name to the roster could put ISU over the top in terms of their ability to win the Big 12 and possibly go all the way.... he'll come here.

I wouldn't blame him one bit for picking NC, Duke, or even KU over us. I mean, he has to do whatever is best for him and his future. I'm not sure if everyone showing up at the airport will help our chances? He's already under a tremendous amount of pressure I'm sure. I think doing things like that will only add to that pressure and maybe turn him off from ISU. I guess we'll see. But if he begins to feel the pressure in Ames is too great, he may just decide to escape it all and go far from home to the state of North Carolina to play ball, and I wouldn't blame him one bit.

The key is free food and lots of signs pointing the right direction... Free walking tacos at hilton? College students would arrive in droves...

Sorry, I beat you to it yesterday sort of.

Re: Harrison Barnes' diary

Ok, so when he comes home to his unofficial visit to ISU we need something special. What about just coach Mac and he take a tour of Hilton and when they make their way to the arena floor all the lights are off. Only a single spotlight (helps blind him also to hide crowd) guides them to the center of the court when all the lights come on and a packed house of 14,356 start cheering CYCLONE…..POWER…… CYCLONE…..POWER. All coach needs to say then is “Harrison, this could be for real, I’ll see you in the locker roomâ€￾. Then have the current/ maybe former players in there to greet him. That’s all I got, my mind hurts contact me later for more ideas.

Um, Harrison is going to Wartburg. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Harrison wearing a Watrburg Knights shirt at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious
