We will certainly miss Hakeem on "3rd and Butler" downs!

Agreed. This is a HUGE loss. Nobody on this team can replace him and the big plays he made. He was a safety valve for Purdy.

Good programs replace more than rebuild so this will be an opportunity to see where things are.

Losing good player early is what good programs do... CMC and staff are in on few good transfer WRs as we speak.. pretty easy message..” we are losing kids to the NFL so we need you”...a lot better message than “ we want to build something here”..

Don’t think that recruits don’t see this.. they all want a shot at the NFL.. well most do.

Hakeem made his announcement count. Dust the house first, especially before the last line or two:

Man this one hurts, huge blow for the receiving core next year. I think we take a major step back at receiver.
We've got really got slot receivers, just need a couple guys to step up on the outside. Martin, Johnson, one of the red-shirt freshman, Akers or a transfer. None of them will be Hakeem but hopefully the O-line and Purdy show some improvement to help make up for that. Probably see a lot more plays for Kolar and Allen too.

I predict Tarique Milton will have a big year.

It is going to be extremely fun not only having guys in the NFL, but having skill guys (they get way more love) in the NFL. Hope like hell these two get put in a good situation

Butler and Montgomery were great players, but more importantly, they are great character guys. ISU will miss them dearly and I wish them the best. Both are tried and true Cyclones and I personally can't wait to watch them at the next level. Despite losing these tremendous players, football will persevere at ISU because CMC has built the program the right way. The future is very bright.

He's going to tear it up in the NFL. I feel bad for the CB's who will be tossed around.

It sucks to lose him, but I can see why he left. Would have liked to see him come back to just fix up the drops but he’s going to ball out at the combine

Hakeem and David will both be missed next year, but you can't blame either of them for leaving early. Watching the Alamo Bowl it was clearly obvious these guys are both ready to be pros, they both dominated in that game. This is a good problem to have and I have faith CMC can continue to get talented players in this program to replace them.

Lazard made some great plays - obvi - for the Clones but Butler made some plays that made me laugh out loud; he could make defenders look so bad sometimes. I hope that translates to the NFL and that he has a long and lucrative career. Great Cyclone.
