Watched it last night...we thought it was a great movie. First we heard of this wonderful true story.

Football isn't just a game. :yes4lo:

I'd give it 4 stars out of 5, although I'm probably less critical of movies then the critics (what was it rated, anyways?). I just enjoy them rather than picking 'em apart.

Weird, huh?

I'd relate it to Remember the Titans meets The Longest Yard.

Good flick though - highly recommend it!

I seriously hope you meant the original The Longest Yard with Burt Reynolds.... The new one = fail. However, We Are Marshall was awesome.

I heard it's good too. It's in the mail on the way to me in Blu-Ray via Blockbuster Total Access. I'll probably watch it over the weekend. Maybe Saturday night to celebrate a win at Texas?

I really liked The Longest Yard with Nelly; you cant call a movie with a former ISU player as Nellys double a failure.

I thought it was a great movie as well. A little bit of a tear jerker in some parts as well.

Does Netflix have this same HD feature? We don't have Blu-Ray, but do have an HD TV...not sure if that even matters...

HD-DVD is the competitor to Blu-ray, you still have to have an HD-DVD player to play HD DVDs. LG has came out with a player that actually plays Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs.

I personally am waiting until a winner in this race is decided so I don't get hosed like my father did back in the Beta/VHS competition.

I think Blu-Ray will be the one to pull away and win the battle but who really knows in these situations. It would be hard to imagine both formats holding on for the long run.

What's funny is that Beta is a better quality format than VHS. Digibeta and Betacam SP are still formats used widely in the entertainment industry. All TV used to be broadcast from Digibeta tapes. You never want to use VHS can't believe they won the battle.

You can get HD-Dvd and Blu-Ray from Netflix. I'm sure in a few years all players can play both. Don't support Blockbuster, go with Netflix. Blockbuster has too much control over the market.

I thought Gridiron Gang was an excellent movie. One of the better ones I've seen in a while.

We are Marshall disappointed me. With how good of a story it is, I was expecting a much better movie.

HD DVD's are 720p and Blu Rays are 1080p so that is the main difference between the 2 of course you have to have the player and also a hdtv set with either of the outputs. At the National Cable Show last year that i attended there was alot of talk about Blu Ray and everyone seemed to agree that they would come out on top.

According to everything I have heard and read, HD DVD's can get 1080i but Blu-Ray is the only true 1080p format.

But then I went to the Toshiba website and found this

"HD DVD delivers all the capacity necessary for all sorts of recorded content, including movies and live performances. The overwhelming majority of HD DVD discs are dual layer with 30 GB of storage. Using the latest compression technologies, the 30 GB disc can display up to 1080-line high-definition images with high-resolution audio and advanced interactivity. Today’s DVDs have a capacity of up to 8.5 GB, and can only display 480-line standard-definition (SD) images with no high-resolution audio or interactivity."

I am not sure how the change has happened but it seems as though the have got the resolution up. The main difference now being storage capability.

On a side note most Xbox360 games were only available up to 1080i for quite a while and now I found I can upgrade my settings to 1080p and the games are cabable of that now too. Still unsure how they do it without having an HDMI output but there was a small difference between the 1080i selection and the 1080p selection. (maybe I just WANT to believe it.)

(And yes I have a 1080p TV so my set is capable of producing that image, just figured that would be the next question)

Highest Blu-Ray = 1080p
Highest HD-DVD= 1080i

I've gotta a ps3, they're the cheapest Blu-Ray players available. And I love to game :wink0st:
