Simple solution don't open said thread. You might have a hard time grasping that idea though. And when has anything posted on a message board been productive?

I'm sorry, what?

I don't open cave threads...my problem is that I opened this one to see what a TTU fan had to say and then end up wading thru a 3 page argument about whether Iowa will beat Purdue, or Purdue and Michigan.

I'll be the guy arguing 'don't open the thread'...when someone says something like "why are we complaining about Messingham" in a thread with Messingham in the title. But when a thread about an upcoming game vs a conference opponent turns into a discussion of Iowa's chances of going 5-7 vs. 7-5 and it's not even closely related to the topic...yeah, that's worth ******** about.

As for a message board being productive...sometimes it's relevant and topical...or at least not pathetically obsessed...you might have a hard time grasping that, though.

I pretty much just assume we're being trolled by opposing fan bases generally. Don't really see the point in trying to make nice with other fan bases.

not it everyone who posts on another teams site is a troll. In our tailgates I follow the same principal I apply here...entertain and show them a good time so they go home saying what a great place Ames is.

Totally agree with 00. There's about 6 Cyclone fans who are 100% out of line here. UNI to start with, but also a few other good posters who should be ashamed of themselves. Who f'in cares what the hoks do or who they could or could not hypothetically beat?

Personally, I think that ISU comes out of Lubbock with a win. Not sure why, it just seems like CPR has them improving every game and at some point they're going to surprise someone. If ISU is close at half, they'll pull it out. Key is Richardson's health.

You rang? Lol. RaiderMacht is giving y'all a fair assessment of this season's Tech squad. Our OL is improving thanks to the return of G Beau Carpenter. Tech's defense is legit. And Tech has playmakers all over the offense. The big question week to week is what kind of QB play we'll see. Glad to have a week to chat with you clones. Next season we can do it in person at your tailgates.

Can I meet the woman in your avatar? Or is that you?

Absolutely. I guess it would be more accurate to say you're the team I root for the most in the Big XII that's not my own?

I, for one, think its going to be a fun game to watch. Wish I could make the trip over, but wasn't able to do both this and Baylor next week.

Thanks for the team report. I look forward to seeing the improvement we have showed so far, and what we do against a solid Tech team.

That's hilarious, tech beats the squawks by 3 TD's if they play.

I agree. Iowa has little pass rush unless they blitz and their secondary would not keep up with TT receivers. Iowa can play with a team built like TT when they have a dominant front four on D which they do not have this year.

I just wanted to stop by and say hello to the fans of my second favorite Big 12 team, and maybe get the game discussion fired up early this week.

How 'bout them Cyclones?

As I stated earlier, Iowa State is my second favorite Big 12 team. I'm not just saying that to be accomodating, it is most certainly true. The family I grew up next door to were big-time Cyclone fans and I grew up watching as many Iowa State games as I did Tech, Texas, or A&M games. I'm a huge fan of Paul Rhoads (I must have watched his post-game rant about the officials after the Texas game 10 times).

The season hasn't been kind to you guys, that Texas game was a travesty, and you guys won the game in my book. Here's hoping you can turn it around (but not against my Red Raiders)!

Jawohl, Herr Macht!

I have a feeling Kliff relentlessly picks on our CBs and Tech wins by 3 TDs. I really like Kliff's coaching style and demeanor. It's weird how much he's like our MBB coach Fred Hoiberg.

Tech was decimated by injuries the past two seasons. Tech is healthy this season but for our true starting QB, Michael Brewer. So there is no comparing last season's bowl team with Tech's current squad. Tech does enjoy a 4 game win streak versus Big 10 teams. If you include Nebraska, it's an 8 game win streak. :twitcy:

Thank goodness. I was worried your avatar was never going to arrive to this discussion.

"Tech has played no one" "They're overrated" "we're the best team they will have faced up to this point"

Are we really going to do this again this year? Look, I respect Rhoads and the way his teams play hard, but Texas Tech is a legitimately good team this year.

Even though we've been rotating true freshman QB's Tech is a top 15 offense and our defense is much better than last years.

If your QB is healthy I expect him to have some success scrambling, and your big RB will have some success, but I think overall y'all are going to see a different level of Tech defense that you've never seen before.

Two words that probably don't make sense to you: "On Topic."

So after we beat Texas Tech this weekend, no will doubt my logic on Iowa destroying Texas Tech.

If you can't recognize the strides this team has made since getting embarrassed by UNI and Iowa there really is no hope for you. It will require further improvements to take down Tech as well.

I disagree with UNIGuy4Cy. That said anyone want to tell us about the Cyclones?

Best QB play we've had since 2005, but that isn't necessarily saying a lot. Wimberely is a solid running back and could be all Big 12, IMO. Offensive line is young and inexperienced. Injuries have hindered them and they've improved every week this season. Wide receivers are young but probably the most talented group ever to take the field in Ames. Sophomore Quenton Bundrage is going to be a star and has had a couple really good games. They won't drop a lot of passes. Returning tight end Ernst Brun has been fighting injuries, but JUCO transfer E.J. Bibbs has done well as the starter.

Defensive line is probably the deepest and the best Rhoads has had. David Irving has really emerged as a play maker on the inside and several defensive ends are playing very well. They'll get some pressure Saturday. Linebackers aren't as good as last year, but are still solid. All are pretty fast which helps against the spread. Jeremiah George is on pace for an impressive year. He made one of the best defensive plays I've ever seen Saturday, unfortunately it was called back. Defensive backs are solid. If you guys can get Washington in one-on-one coverage with a quick slot receiver you'll win. Other than that this is a typically solid Paul Rhoads defense.

Hope that was helpful.

This team is so much better than they were in games 1 and 2 it's really not worth mentioning. Rhoads turned them around. Even though a bowl game looks unlikely, this team could end the season as Rhoads's best overall team yet, IMO. Just too little too late.
