So has it been confirmed Fran really isn't going to go after a grad transfer this year?

Not really confirmed. He said all options are on the table for the right fit. Transfer, grad transfer, 2018 recruit or banking the schollys for 2019 all seem to be on the table.

I would say grad transfer is probably 3rd most likely on that list only ahead of signing a 2018 recruit.

What would be ahead of signing a 2018 recruit or a grad transfer?

What I think he does, in order of most likely:

Bank the schollys---60%
Sit out transfer---25%
Grad transfer---10%
Sign someone from the 2018 class---5%

You do realize getting a grad transfer is the same as banking a scholarship right?

Technically if you bank the scholly you could look for a mid year transfer.
But given Fran's basically zero track record of transfers, this seems highly unlikely.

I can just see the spin now. Fran decides not to go after a grad transfer so he can bank a scholarship to bring in some play with Patrick. Lol

...so having an empty bench spot is better than filling it with someone at no cost?
Have you seen the way Fran uses his bench? He's like Oprah. "You're getting 10 minutes!!! And you're getting 10 minutes!!! And you're getting 10 minutes!!!"

I don't think he's able to control himself. He won't sign anyone with immediate eligibility because he can't help himself.

I'm confused by what this means

It is the same when it comes to class balance, etc.

Its not the same in regards to next years roster. If he adds a grad transfer the roster will be different than a roster that doesnt include a grad transfer.
