Hoiberg was all over Diallo until Diallo asked him if he would be there the next year to coach him and he wouldn't/couldn't answer the question...
That meant he wasn’t coming here, yes. But who was the east coast recruiter for Fred?

Hopefully he improves a lot this off season then. So far he hasn’t looked like someone I want to see on the court that much. That's good to hear. The only other person I was thinking might go would be Terrance Lewis, but he could very well get a bigger role next year
Easily solved. Root for Iowa and you can get all the hyperbole you could ever want about the young players.I was responding to what he talks about in interviews. He doesn't hype up the potential of players in the media as much as I'd like. Especially freshman. He tells it like it is and doesn't "tell us what we want to hear" in regards to player development
I don't know why this post have five disagrees, as of now. When tweets came out about Abdelmassih joining Hoiberg in Lincoln there were St John's people calling Abdelmassih a rat. And we've had stories on here about how he was kind of dirty while in Ames.
He played more minutes than THT many times, but I'll still say there was times, particularly against Ohio St, that THT should not have been out there to start the second half. I'm not saying that alone cost the game, but you could definitely set a different tone by starting LW in the second half.
I think THT treated it as the start of a new game, and went out and made the same mistakes he did to start that game. What I think should have been done, is start LW in the second half, and bring in THT later. At least then if he makes a mistake, you can pull him quicker. Rather than waiting the 5-6 minutes to start the half, like Prohm always did.
Matt left a couple of weeks before Fred announced that he was going to Bulls. I have a hard time believing that Fred would continue to have a strong relationship with a guy that had questionable ethics.
How many games did Marial get his points in just the 2nd half? In just the 1st half? Can you tell when a player doesn't have it given a few minutes of court time? Or is it only in hind-sight?
CSP said he's a big metrics fan... Maybe the numbers say you play a scorer so he can work through a slump and start scoring.
Not to mention that Lindell is not good on the defensive end.
Gar Forman says hi - and has been saying hi for years and years and years.
I have a hard time second guessing a guy that's spent his entire career coaching basketball, playing basketball, studying basketball, recruiting and developing basketball players. But there are lots of deep, accomplished basketball minds in our fanbase that will surely tell me why I'm wrong.
I was the worst. In fact to the point it was so bad the thought of him doing it on purpose crossed my mind. Because that was some pretty bad crap being served up for someone so revered in his profession who had decent success everywhere else he coached.Drop the mic...
I was as critical as anyone else was of Greg McDermott, and I think he's one of the worst things to happen not just to ISU basketball, but to the athletic department in general, but I never presumed to think I knew more than he did about the X's and O's of college basketball.
I thought MA took one of our recruits with him to SJU.
Yep, ended up being for the best anyway. Kid got injured like it was his job. Only appeared in 27 games over 2 seasons at St. John’s.Darien Williams.
I agree with you. I'm a huge Prohm supporter but would like him to be more flexible on who starts games and/or the 2nd half. I just don't understand that. But, I've wondered about other line-up things like that, especially early in the years, but we always seem to be running well late in the season - the late slump this year, notwithstanding - so it seems he has a plan, and it's usually worked. There was a lot to manage this year with injuries, Lard, etc..
There were different things I've questioned about every ISU coach since I've been paying attention (since Johnny). But, when the coach has success, I give them the benefit of the doubt.
Also, for what it's worth, I live in the Twin Cities and know a coach that's very connected to the BB scene up here - AAU, HS, Timberwolves, etc. He told me a couple years ago that ISU was outbid for Rashad Vaughn. He put the $ at close to $200k. I have no idea if it's true. This is not a close friend, but I can only say that the coach has never told me anything else that is outlandish or that I questioned re: its veracity. It did bother me that ISU would be playing that game - maybe all are; I don't know. Again, take it for what it's worth.
.....
Hawaii story as I have heard: Team was playing a tourney in Hawaii. The Team had an early evening flight. Pollard didnt want to pay for an entire extra night at the hotel so he had everyone check out of the hotel on
time. fred was upset and thought it was a cheap thing to do. Saved the University $25K
or so. fred let his feelings known. It was the Beginning of the end.....
He was all over Diallo. So I think he will be fine with doing what needs to be done on the recruiting trail
As I'd noted, he was very clear that ISU had made a larger offer. I don't know for sure, and I noted that he may have been filling in some blanks himself - certainly didn't appear that way, but I don't know for certain.Do we know ISU bid or could it have been 200K to 0?
