I thought this episode was one of the best so far. I've read the books and still find myself shocked at some of the visuals that I just didn't think of when reading it. HBO has done a great job.

Book 3 is the best. 4 is my least favorite. I loved Book 5.

Most of the negative reviews for 4 and 5 are from readers that waited 5 years between books and built up their expectation levels too high. I have loaned my books to probably a dozen different people, and all of them who had been reading straight through liked Books 4 and 5, so I think most of the negativity is a function of the long wait between books and huge expectations.

Excellent - thanks for the feedback!

By visuals I assume you mean the women?

The Shadowbaby thing got me a little concerned they were going to go way into the fantasy and magic direction and I am really glad they haven't. I know it probably won't be soon but you just have to think Nyiamera(sp) has got to come back at some point and help Arya.

I have not read the books, only the plot summary on Wiki. There are some magical - mystical things that I hope they don't put into the plot of the series but it will be very hard to avoid.

Oh how I want to believe number eight is true, but I just can't.
I think more likely than George dying is the series passing the books. Assuming it lasts long enough, the show will have gone through the current source material by 2015 or 2016. Book 6 might (should?) be done by then, which takes us through 2017 or 2018. I believe it's unlikely (though possible) that book 7 would be out by then. So what happens? Does the show go on and use GRRM's plot outline and spoil the book readers on what's to come? Or is it put on pause until the book comes out? Or do the show and series diverge at that point?

i would think this is inevitable regardless of anything else.

That or slow down the plot where a book could last an extra season or something.

I read all five right when the fifth came out and agree. Seems like people dislike the 4th the most, to me it's comparable to what Empire Strikes back is to the original Star Wars, a necessary slowing and character development.

If Lord of the Rings was a new book today, it would probably have been turned into four books by the editors and people would have hated the first half of the Two Towers because half the characters aren't in it. That's the case with Book 4 of these as well.

I think if the series remains popular and catches up to the books, a couple feature films might be awesome to finish the last book if there needs to be a few years of gap.

Also, book 5 is waaaaaaaay more than 10 one hour episodes. It's easily 20 episodes...so really there are at least 6 full seasons of material in the can for the TV show. They're already condensing these books to fit one season and book 5 is gigantic in length and scope.

Book 3 is going to be two seasons long. Maybe not the full two seasons but at least part of another season. Its like 1,100 pages long so there is way too much to do in one season.

Was it just me, or was this finale kinda a dud? It seemed like there was so much to go over that they didn't explain a lot of stuff.

Who burned Winterfell? The men from the Iron islands were leaving with the castle surrounded. How could they have been allowed to burn the place? Was it the men sent to capture Theon?

Also, how did Stannis get free? I thought he was captured at the end of the last episode.

And does anyone know that Tyrion survived? I would think with his dad there he would have been better taken care of no matter what his sister wanted.

Overall, I was just disappointed with how this season was closed. I would have preferred several of these storylines wrapped up last week to give more time to the more important ones.

I think a 2 hour season finale would have been much better. I thought it was a good episode. I thought Daenerys going badass was cool. Finally emerged as a player. The marching white walkers at the end was pretty badass. I would have ****** myself for sure. The only thing I was confused about was I was sure Sansa would have lefted with Dog. Sad she didn't.
