I'd rather have 60,000 fans at $20/ticket than 30,000 fans at $40/ticket.. its a no brainer. I think if you build it, and wet their whistle, Iowa State could have a full stadium.

If it was that easy, every NCAA venue would serve alcohol. Most universities don't want to take on the liability that comes with that.

Creighton used to average 6k fans per game, then they built the Qwest Center... now they sell out at 16k. If you build it (and sell alcohol) they will come. Just gotta make sure the price is right ticket-wise, concessions, and with the overall experience.

Creighton's attendance over the years was much closer to the 9k capacity of the Civic Center than it was to 6k. Interest dropped off somewhat during the disasterous Willis Reed era and to some extent when Tony Barone drove some supporters away. Attendance was strong during the McManus, Sutton, Apke, and Altman years.

If this is true, Jack Trice should be expanded to 200,000 and tickets should be raised to $100 a pop. That would mean $20 million each home game in revenue!!! That would be sooooo awesome.

I really like the 3rd one. but instead does anyone think we could do luxury boxes the whole way across? personally i think that would make the stadium look even sharper!!!

I dunno about luxury boxes (i think a lot would depend on demand there), but something like a "zone club" area could be kind of cool.

not to rain on the parade, but is there anyway ISU actually can fill that? Outside of the Iowa game every 2 years? I was at the Mizzou game this year, with a bowl bid on the line and we had 20K butts in the stadium.

However great work, the pics are awsome.
Winning would help quite a bit.

Last season I believe there was an empty luxury box so yeah, demand isn't there.

Here nor there

It is a little risky, but until there is demand they could price skim and/or not attach a seat licence in order to allow them to differentiate the product enough to target a different demographic. There are many more people that can afford a single game "enhanced" experience.

:rolleyes:Hey MNCYWX how many rep points do you have now!
I've picked up about 3 dozen +Reps for the thread.

I am working on one like pic 1&2 but with the lower deck only. Proving to be quite tricky. Don't have photoshop at home so it may take a while getting done.

Glad you all like them! Imagine the possibilities you could do with the expansion!

What if we build #1 double decker on the south end and just no longer allow hillside seating on the north end? We already know the lower bowl is essentially replacing the south hillsides, with maybe a slight increase. The upper bowl could replace the north hillsides, with a slight increase. I would think a double deck would not get over 60-62K. Sure there would some fans complain about no hillside access, but for the most part I think those fans would understand and be excited about sitting in a brand new part of the stadium.

Plus having a much larger scoreboard and possibly more building in that north end would somewhat minimize the "openness" of not having fans in that area. I realize the cost of adding the full double deck is probably twice as much as just the lower bowl--maybe we wouldn't even have the money? If attainable, why not go for it? The visual improvement would be unreal, obviously recruits would be impressed. We wouldn't be adding an absurd number of new seats, but enough to offer more tickets and make more money. If something like that #1 picture would be done, to go along with a big new scoreboard and football-building, I think JTS be 5th best stadium in Big 12 behind UT, A&M, OU, and OSU.

I think it would be sweet if the concourse inside the stadium (not sure if you would call it a concourse? hopefully you guys know what I mean) could be built all the way around.

... by concourse inside the stadium I mean the walkway at the top of the lower deck in front of the luxury boxes.

We would have to add a BUTTLOAD of seats to get to 60,000 without hillsides. Right now we have 42,000ish real seats. You'd have to add 18,000 seats, or a little under one side of the stadium we currently have. Not happening.

Technically we currently have about 45.5K with the endzone seats.

I would be really happy with footing poured for 2nd deck and just the lower bowl done for now. That would fit our fanbase great right now. 50,000 actual seats.

Isn't that figure pre-west side renovation? We had 55,000 listed as capacity and each hill was listed as 2,500 "seats." We lost a couple thousand seats when the west side was renovated because of making the walkways wider for handicapped seating, adding landscaping and pathways out to the top of the hills, and the seats taken out where the luxury suites on the outsides now sit.

I am not sure what to think anymore....

From what I thought (and that could be wrong...) is both sides hold 21.5K each for a total of 43K. I thought we lost 1000-1500 seats from renovations putting us at 41.5-42K. Then add 3500 or 3800 for the endzone seats (because those are actual seats) and you get 45 - 45.5K.. Then General Admission for the hills gives us a total capacity of 53ish....

Lets just get er done

You'd have to include the current endzone seats in the final count for the redone endzone.
