My first exchange with the reporter:

Reporter: How do these proposed changes line up with the rules at Iowa State?

Me: All I know is if your drinking and underaged you could get in trouble, aside from that I'm not sure if there are any other rules.

Sounds like some rather practical rules.

Although I hope JP doesn't get any ideas about that 1 hour and 2 hour after the game stuff.

Some days, it's pretty nice to hang at the lots into the evening watching other games on tv.

Except for the Haunted Forest grass lot.

In regards to the open container issue I see this all the time in Ames. The difference between the two is that pretty much all the lots and area around Jack Trice is university owned land so I'm assuming they don't care if you walk around with an open container (although I have been told a few times that I can't cross the street with it) while in Iowa City most of the area around Kinnick is residential land therefore they have the right to issue open container citations. Guess we should be thankful then!

I don't think it's uncommon for the police to make people dump their drinks when crossing University (Elwood). I don't know if I've every heard of anyone being cited for it, however.

The worst think I've ever hear about (never experienced) at ISU is the stories of some of the parking attendants having issue with glass bottles.

We do this pretty much every game. We continue to shoot the **** and get our drink on while the poor slob who has to drive the bus that week sobers up. I don't think rushing people out of the lot is a good idea if someone who is driving might have had one or two too many. Give them a chance to make up for it by waiting it out for an hour or three.

Besides, why fight the traffic when you don't have to.

I really hope they don't change a thing about ISU's tailgating. That's one thing ISU can be proud of on a consistant basis. As long as ISU fans can keep their heads out of any major trouble (drunk driving after games) then I really don't see a need for our tailgating policies to change.

I have never been asked to dump out my beer but I did have a cop tell me I had to hide it if i wanted to cross the street from the stadium to the student lot

The Hawks have a very nice stadium that puts ours to shame but their tailgating is terrible. Tailgating sites is scattered all over and trash is every where you walk.
