With Andor wrapping up a phenomenal season 2, I was thinking about what my favorite TV show's single season? For me, it has to be True Detective Season 1.

Great writing, fantastic acting, chilling, all around great. Others?

Killing Eve's first season was pretty spectacular, as well. Jodie Comer... what else can you say?

The Wire season 4 maybe, Simpsons season 6, the last season of Succession was great.

Yep, this gets my vote as well. You could make arguments for any of seasons 3 through 8 being the best, but it's season 6 for me. The only episode that is skippable is a clip show, and those don't really count in my mind. The season ends with "Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 1", and that is a peak of a peak.

Another favorite season of a show I would entertain -

Season one of both Arrested Development and Archer are tough to beat. Some shows take a while to hit their stride. Those two came out charging right from the gate.
Honestly I'd go with season 2 of AD. Good Grief and Righteous Brothers are two of the best sitcom episodes ever. But Pier Pressure from season 1 is also on that list.

Barry S1 - the perfect mix of comedy, drama, and satirization. The cast is top to bottom perfect, but Henry Winkler is just on fire the whole season. The later seasons are good, but never as consistently funny. It also really felt like the rest of the show, Bill Hader regretted making Barry too sympathetic in S1 and was afraid people would see a hitman and think he was cool and really tried to dial that down.

Fargo S2 - The best Fargo season. The cast is all outstanding and it best captures the tone of the original movie while also adding enough to justify an entire show around it. It also pokes a lot of fun at the Minnesota/Midwest parts of it, but it never feels mean spirited and always very appreciative of it.

Breaking Bad Season 5 is the obvious answer but Westworld Season 1 and ER Seasons 1 & 2 are up there as well for me.

Honorable Mention to The Office Season 4. Great as it was, it loses points for losing episodes to the writer's strike. I firmly believe 'Dinner Party' is the best half hour of comedy ever written.

South Park Season 4 is up there for me. “I’m gonna finger bang bang you in to my life, girl you like to fingerbang and that’s alright”.

True Detective S1 was just awesome. I'm actually not sure whether I liked Andor S1 or S2 at this point, but they are both up there. Whatever GoT season had the Red Wedding, BSG S1, I know there's a Sopranos season up there for me, but I can't name which one I liked the best. Also, there were a couple seasons of The Shield that were really good.
