There is something going on here for sure. Like 48 hours from missing person to body found to first degree murder charges. Maybe a witness or some reoccurring events or action that lead them directly to this guys. How often are murders solved this quickly when it isn't a family member or someone arrested at the scene?
They were bragging to their classmates on social media and they were quickly turned in on Wednedsay is how I took it.

Fairfield is such a weird community. It’s got a strange mix of maharishi, left-leaning environmentalists, latino, and rural hillbillies.
Such a said case.

When I lived in Ottumwa, I always enjoyed visiting Fairfield. A couple of nice cider breweries and some of the best sushi I've had in Iowa at Shokai.

If they were bragging to classmates that they killed her that is even more messed up. Another reason why first degree charge is the right choice in this situation.
I don't know if bragging was the right choice of words, but the article I read made it sound like one or more of their classmates turned them in based off some social media posts.

You actually lived in ottumwa? And you lived to tell about it. Impressive.

old buddy of mine took a job there as the sports editor of their newspaper years ago. He is still suffering from ptsd.

I can't even comprehend this. With what is written, it seems like they made the decision to commit murder not caring that they were 100% going to get caught. Who does that, and how do two people go through with that together?

I got placed there for work. Once my rotation was up, got out pretty quickly. No real desire to ever go back (except to grab Warehouse BBQ- that place is amazing)

Sad indeed. Fairfield seems like a nice enough town to me. But I had to laugh when I drove through the town not that long ago and I saw a motel that advertised "Color TV".

I used to run/walk regularly on the Greenbelt trail in Des Moines. But there have been some incidents in the past few years that changed that for me. Now, I won't run/walk anywhere that isn't surrounded by houses so I could potentially get help if needed. I hate this because the trails in DSM are beautiful and wonderful (and I don't have to worry about car traffic --- just bikes), but they don't feel safe to me anymore.
I actually got followed by a car when I was out for a run in college while in Ames, it was really scary. I was running close to campus, and a car followed me from by the stadium into the neighborhood and the guys inside the car started trying to ask me questions. One of my friends later suggested that they were just lost, but my response was if they were lost, why follow a lone jogger into a residential neighborhood rather than picking ANY of the many businesses or university buildings in the area. I chose a random house and ran up to the front door and started knocking, and thankfully the car drove away quickly. Didn't go running alone after that for a very long time.

Is it just me, or does anybody else get the insatiable urge to pummel a kid’s face just from seeing their mugshots?

No amount of armchair analysis will help me understand how evil others can be. My heart goes out to Graber’s family and the entire Fairfield community.

Very punchable faces.
