I don't care that he has no major offers nor am I worried about his size. Look at the tape. This kid looks the part more than most I've seen. He seems to see the field very well, even on the run he keeps his head down field. That was as a junior too so he's still got a year to develop before ever setting foot in Ames.

As far as his size, you aren't fully grown as a junior in HS. 6'1 175 as a junior could be 6'3 200+ as a freshman in college. Put him on a weight program and he's the same size or bigger than our other QB's.
Agreed. Plus he plays for one of the best high school programs in the country. Hope we can keep him.

I hope I look back on this post in a few years and shake my head - but I'm just not excited about this kid.

I know there is more than Stars, and offers, but damn are we in need of a really good QB.

Let's hope our staff can shape him into greatness.

Then did we offer to quick? still lots of three stars out there

SMH.

One of our best QB's of all time (Seneca) had little interest from other schools.
One of our highest rated QB's coming in was Jerome Tiller.

QB rankings don't mean too much unless your talking about some of the elite "can't miss" kind of recruits.

6 QB's for 2015? Hopefully they realize you only out one QB on the field every play.

Seriously, you don't need 6 QB's.

I think DLC can be that guy eventually; I'm really excited about him. As far as Dom goes, I won't dismiss him because he doesn't have much of an offer list at this point. It's still early and I'm sure he'll pick up some more offers before signing day. As I stated earlier in this thread, Mangino has a good track record with under the radar QB's so I'll be giving him the benefit of the doubt

Haven't watched the highlight video but if he really only ran for 132 yards is he really a dual-threat QB?

Not that I really care because the ability to run isn't that important to me, especially if he really is as accurate as they're saying.

I just think it seems like everyone (media, scouting services, etc) is so wrapped up with the "dual-threat" thing these days that that's all they care about...and who knows, maybe the kid doesn't consider himself a dual-threat QB...or maybe he is a dual threat...

But 132 yards on the season doesn't scream that...I would expect around 500 or so.

.
I watched his video several times this morning. Looks like he would run about as well as SR--if he needed to.

Before I watched the video, I was thinking, "Why in the world are they offering another quarterback?" Burrow, I could have understood. But this kid looks like a skilled passer, so I'll just figure this staff knows what they're doing.

Id it my imagination, or does his last name roughly translate to "The Money"?

(Yes, I know it translates to one form or another of "delirious" or "rave").

I don't know if any will switch, but I think Hodge and Lanning would have the best chance if any were to do so

I know I've read Lanning, Hodge and DLC are great athletes so I'd hate to waste talent hidden in a depth chart, but I've also read Lanning impressed the coaches in the Spring.

Richardson, Rohach, Lanning, Hodge, DLC, and now DeLira. That's 6 QB's for 2015.

I would sure think one or two out of that group may depart or move positions. I doubt lanning moves as CPR has been pretty adamant about him staying at QB.

In watching the video what stood out to me was that he was confidant in his arm and could make the throw downfield for a really good gain rather than take a 4 or 5 yard gain and get pounded. I would rather have a QB who can throw downfield rather than run. The higher level you go the more important that becomes. Because the speed keeps increasing of the defenders. You simply can't outrun them anymore.

Yeah, I was just basing that more on their athleticism and not on their skills at QB. I've heard the same about Lanning impressing
