Does anyone know any ISU student who can kick fieldgoals?

With our past and kickers, you would believe it would be a lot easier to pick up a really good scholarship kicker to come in, bcuz you know if he is even just RELIABLE, he will be an ISU HERO!!!

Michigan just put the Illinois game away with a 39 yard fieldgoal. Must be nice.

Props to you on this. This is what I have been saying forever now. By not having kicker we have pretty much lost every important game ever. We have to change all of our play calling strategies etc... I am not sure why we can't find a kicker. I mean we have all the United States of America and about 5 other countries where we could find just one normal kicker. We are 20 yards short on our kick offs and very unreliable for field goals. Wouldn't it be wierd 3 years from now if the crowd was shocked if we missed a 30 yard field goal instead of praying to make a 20?
We need to make our O-Line, D-Line and Kicker our top priority. maybe they already have it done. The other skill position won't mean jack if we don't have those figured out soon.

The true irony of this whole situation is that when I was in school and through most of the nineties, place kicking was the ONE thing we were good at.

Can't think of the name of the kicker during my tenure (89-94), but he was money from50. Jamie Kohl was another that was pretty reliable.

Ty Stewart was a damn good kicker awhile back. Pretty decent golfer nowadays, too.

I don't understand why Shaggy has degressed. Atleast during most of his sophomore and junior year he could hit FGs early in games with no pressure but now he doesn't even do that. Rick "Wild thing" Vaughn had more control over his pitches before getting glasses than Shaggy does with his kicks right now.

Ty Stewart. He held a Guiness world record for a practice kick for a few years.

Walden's Special teams were always one of the top rated in the nation. Too bad the rest of the teams were not.

Whenever I think of Walden, SPECIAL is the first word that comes to mind.

Maybe Shaggy needs more scooby snacks? Seriously, we can't blame him on all our problems. Wait a minute........

Jeff Shudak was the first good kicker I remember from the Walden era...Walden had to suspend him once for mouthing off, but he could hit the FG's...

Yea so I think we should call him Shanky instead of Shaggy. I realize he is a nice guy, but he is a sh***y field goal kicker. I am a pretty nice guy and they don't let me play quarterback.

We should just show like we're going for it every 4th down inside the 35. Mix up actual plays and Meyer pooch kicks every few times.

Does anyone know how many games in Shaggy's career he has either failed to seal, changed the play calling for the rest of the game contributing to a loss (yesterday), or just blatantly lost with the game on the line???

Also, can you think of ANY other D-1 school that has had anywhere close to this type of kicker problems?!

I am betting that AT LEAST a third of our losses in the last 4 yrs were partly to blame on a missed chip shot by Culby. I'm talking less than 40 yds. After that, kickers are allowed to miss.

This wouldn't fly at Buena Vista, let alone in the Big XII. I can't wait for the last time I have to see him kick here in a few weeks.

Great post. I would guess that the answer to your first questions is more than any of us want to realize.

You could tell that after the miss from 35 or whatever it was, Chizik was done with him. No more field goals. We should have went into halftime with a 13-0 lead.

The football comes off his foot off target without wind or hooks. He has a fundamental flaw in his technique. Kickoffs are a journey through Misery.
