Does anyone know any ISU student who can kick fieldgoals?

Any potential quick walk ons or soccer kickers? I'm not sure we will be trying too many field goals in the games ahead. Chizik seemed pretty upset in the post game conference.

If I were coaching this team anytime I crossed the opponents 40 yard line...I would forget about going for a field goal on 4th down...I'd leave my offense on the field and go for it every time... nuthin to lose with old shaggy kicking em!!

I'm talking about for THIS season. There must be some out there who kicked in high school or are in soccer. I like Shaggy as a person, but he is struggling and we apparently have no option.

Yea, because they're doing so well too....

Here's a stat to make ya want jump off a bridge. 8 games, 13 TD's. (And 2, maybe three of those are essentially mop-up)

We already got a walk on student. Why would we want another? Haven't we learned?

I don't care if it's a walk on, scholarship, janitor, Kathy Ireland - whoever. Just split the uprights - somebody PLEASE!

We have two others on the squad, Chris Mahoski and Josh Grienbaum. Does any know either of them? I agree we have to have a look at someone else with confidence to knock even the short one through.

Anyone see how bad that first one was missed? It was not even close, the replay showed it at least 10 yards off.

I think what really bothers me is how long this has been an issue at ISU and yet we are still talking about it. Heck with walk ons, when are coaches going to realize this is an important part of the game and we need someone to make field goals. Why is this being discussed so many years down the road? I just don't understand how we can't find someone we can count on inside of 40 yards.

Gene needs to make a change. Sorry. The tough call. The ball comes off Shaggy's foot usually to the right.

I am going to put some uprights in my backyard and start my 3 year old kicking right now.

After watching the post game conference, I think there will be something done. Chizik was really POed about the miss.

Can anyone try to recap what was said in the post game press conference? I just heard Gene say that he doesn't take moral victories from losses, and he's disappointed that we didn't take advantage of our opportunity to beat a good football team.

I was watching the TV 13 news earlier and they had a couple interviews with players. They seemed a little too happy after a loss in my opinion. We played a solid game defensively, but our offense was inept. Are we supposed to be happy we didn't get blown out? A loss is a loss is a loss.

Josh Griebahn (correct spelling, not Grienbaum- was friends with him in high school) is a place-kicker for kickoffs, not for field goals or punts. That's the last I heard, anyway. I suppose it's possible that they promoted him this season, but I haven't even heard his name on kickoffs, much less anything else. I think he screwed up a handful of kicks in the first two games and ended up getting benched.

If Chizik doesn't use a scholarship for a kicker this offseason, we are in trouble. It'll have to be another walk-on.

Clonefan94....
Props to you on this. This is what I have been saying forever now. By not having kicker we have pretty much lost every important game ever. We have to change all of our play calling strategies etc... I am not sure why we can't find a kicker. I mean we have all the United States of America and about 5 other countries where we could find just one normal kicker. We are 20 yards short on our kick offs and very unreliable for field goals. Wouldn't it be wierd 3 years from now if the crowd was shocked if we missed a 30 yard field goal instead of praying to make a 20?
We need to make our O-Line, D-Line and Kicker our top priority. maybe they already have it done. The other skill position won't mean jack if we don't have those figured out soon.

Keep the chin up guys. At least you won the first half.

Nebraska walk on was a soccer player from Bosnia. He nailed a kickoff through the uprights that went at least 90 yards.

We continue to kickoff with one foot behind our rear.

Take away the 5 for 6 against Iowa, and Shaggy is looking real shaggy.
