1. ISU
2. Marquette (I'm originally from the Milwaukee area)

My #2 allegiance varies for football. Typically I root for an up and coming team that don't have a history of success. Just so long as the team or their fanbase aren't obnoxious jerks, and they're not on my "I will never root for this team so long as I live" list.

Somewhere in the U.S.
I have two actually......only because in my work life I happened to work closely with both school's athletic departments......USC and Univeristy of Nevada (Reno). Still follow both of them closely.

On the road...
I have always cheered for Clemson. I have a lot of family that has gone there and when I lived in SC I went to a lot of football and baseball games.

Wisconsin, the rest of the fam lives there, so I get quite a bit of Wisconsin gear for the holidays.

I will second the Badgers. My girlfriend is from Madison so she obviously has a ton of family and friends up there. Great town, good fans, great facilities... They will never be able to take over the #1 spot though. That spot is and always will be reserved for the Cyclones.

My all of my cousins went there (one played football there), my sister went there, nice little campus. I always think of it as ISU except smaller.

Dad and grandpa graduated from ISU so I grew up a diehard Cyclone...life doesn't get better than this.

I always think of U of Iowa as #2 ...oh you mean which team do we follow second?

I'd go with Oregon. I'm a runner and Oregon is a runner's "mecca". The football program is worth watching too.[/QUOTE]

As are the cheerleaders, wow.

Way up there
I live in the Omaha area so I always root for Creighton, mainly because I'm an Altman fan. Now that Dana left, they will probably go back to irrelavance. Honestly, I dont watch a game where I'm not rooting for one side to win, usually its the underdog (or whoever happens to be playing Iowa, Nebraska or ND). I will admit to rooting for Iowa and ND when they played Nebraska (never, ever, ever, ever, ever root for them) in the late 90's early 00's, thats the only time my hatred for those teams is trumped.

2 changes every year, but it has been boise state since the zabransky/forsey year. also follow ECU because I like what skip holtz does, Illinois/NIU/Northwestern because I grew up watching them, and TAMU because that is where I want to go to grad school. Other than that, any school that runs a wide open spread and my #2 changes mostly depending on the players at certain schools. so i guess i have more of a 2-10

Texas: Always thought they did a good job representing the big12. I could care less if they beat anyone in the big12 just cheer for them in their bowl games along w/ all the other big12 teams (except for the fuskers). I will however no longer be a fan of theirs.

Drake: Des Monies is my 2nd home so I cheer for them and follow them somewhat. Plus I routinely see their players and coaches so that helps as well.

The key to a #2 team is that you choose one that is successful and wins, so it can pick up when your #1 isn't doing so hot (which happens a lot to us Fanatics.)

Mine has been UNC for the past 20+ years. It's served me well.

Oregon State (where I attended grad school) and U of Colorado (since I live in Colorado).

Are you playing in the Alumni Golf Outing Friday in Denver? Should be a great time. If you are interested, there might be an opening. Anyone interested should e-mail [email protected].

Notre Dame has always been my number two team. I love watching their games on NBC when ISU is either off or away that week. Clones will ALWAYS be #1 but Go Irish as well!!

My #2 is Iowa......

Grew up a Clone and Hawk fan.....
I never stopped cheering for them (Iowa) even when I went to ISU (except when they play us). I get annoyed by a portion of their annoying fan base, but we have some of our own. Plus, my intense hatred for all things Nebraska makes me like Iowa even a little bit more now..........
