The washing your meat thread got me wondering.

I've never been a huge fan of tenderizing meats, although I will chicken breasts occasionally - more just to get a more even thickness. The problem I've always had with chicken is that it breaks apart pretty easy without a perfect amount of pressure.

You are doing it wrong. With chicken, you really need more of a choking motion.

If you don't like to do it give me a call, I'll beat your meat for you for a few bucks, win win for both of us.

I process my own venison so I don't get to choose the quality of meat I use. I run the steaks (other than the tenderloins) thru what Cabalas calls a "cuber" which is essentially a tenderizer. I pass each steak through the hand crank machine 3 times, the first straight thru and the second two at opposing 45 degree angles to the first pass, producing minute steaks that melt in your mouth regardless of the source of the cut. I have on occasion used the edge of a coffee cup saucer to pound flour into a tougher piece of meat before frying but I don't own a tenderizing hammer.
I hope I didn't offend anybody by maturely answering the question.

Let’s give this thread a month and then have a “do you eat your meat” thread to harass vegetarians, trust me they’re used to it.

My MIL insists chicken should be washed for health reason. I won't wash chicken for health reasons, and I personally believe washing it dries it out the tiniest bit, but I haven't done any research to back that up.

My MIL is a nurse.

My MIL is a nurse. And nurses refuse to accept that someone else might have better health-related information. So, she does not eat chicken I make.
Chicken is the only meat I could see being washed but still won’t do it. My mom is a nurse too and has never done it. Interesting range of opinion for sure

Expanding a bit on this. Do you use a mallet to tenderize meats, or a tenderizer with the needles?

I will tenderized butterfly pork chops, but not much beyond that. I know people that will tenderize sirloin steaks, but I can’t say that I’ve ever done it. For chicken, I’ve always tenderized chemically with marinades and brines.
