Im looking for a reputable dog boarding business in Des Moines with a fairly reasonable cost. Any suggestions?

I have used PetSmart on University before and it seems a little pricey.

I can't help much in what you're looking for, and it depends on the situation, but I chose a dog walker instead that walks the dog three times, feeds them, and plays with them for 20 minutes each time, and I will never consider boarding my dog again. I'll always take the dog walker over boarding.

We used to take our dog here,
Tri County Boarding & Kennels

We like them because they leave the dog outside most of the day to play. They have a huge fenced in area for them to run and it is really cheap. You can even have your dog washed when you pick them up.

Only downside is, they are a bit of a drive from Des Moines, but well worth it. Our dog loves it there!

Avondale is great. Its like $20 a day but they do take good care of your pet.

We've used www.4pawsunleashed.com. They have two locations. They are excellent and relatively inexpensive. We have two labs and they can board in a big kennel together. Plus one of our dogs is diabetic so he gets insulin shots twice a day and they do it for free. He got sick once while we were on vacation (not their fault) and they took him to the vet and back no charge, actually paid the vet bill and tacked it on our bill no mark up. They also have day care where the dogs get out and socialize that we use about every other day if we go on a long vacation. Dogs come home wiped out. well worth the money.

Brodericks in Waukee is where our dog goes. They never have anything open last minute so you must plan ahead but they have always been good to us.

Thanks everyone for their input. Sometimes when I travel to Des Moines from Lincoln I need a place for my dog to stay... Looks like I have many new places to choose from!!!!

When we were teenagers my sister and I pet sat for lots of different people. We'd stay overnight at their house for probably about $20-25/day. It was fun and I think probably cheaper than boarding.

I'd be relatively uncomfortable these days having someone sleep over at my house while I was gone.
