Pretty sure Watson will have thousands of Cyclone fans rooting for him at his next place. I know I will be.

Watson will be an absolute stud if he finds the right place. He was a great player who had some really good flashes. Hope he ends up somewhere great!
Loved Watson. Maybe he can go home and help Nico rebuild Minny.
Watson is a perfect mid major player. High IQ, athletic, and great all around player. His skill set though is an athletic power forward, but he is the size of a shooting guard/small forward which is why a player like him doesn’t get a lot of playing time. If he were 2-3 inches taller, he would be a starter on a lot of high major teams. He’s a perfect mid major player who will likely be an all conference player at that level. Every Cyclone fan will be rooting for him wherever he ends up.
Transfers were a big thing. But the core of those teams were 4 year guys---Niang, Ejim, Naz, Thomas, Morris. But I think it is understandable to miss having a bunch of players stick around for 4 years. It's the way of the world now, but it still kind of sucks. We'll have Tamin and possibly Milan. But that's it.
He’ll do better at a mid-major that runs an up-tempo offense, I can see that plus Watson’s defensive chops making him a real asset in that environment.
No doubt those were all time cyclone greats. Tamin and Milan is pretty good group in this day and age.
Hoibergs best teams had that good mix of both. We were known as Transfer U in the same era we had Morris and Niang, so it’s a bit ironic to see someone pinning for the days before the transfer portal and talking about those glory days in the same paragraph.
What about Blake Hinson and Jaden Nunn, both were run off right away by this coaching staff and ended up being really solid Power 5 players.
Hinson really could have helped our offensive ineptitude those first 2 years.

Jaden Nunn - no he was just another decommitted recruit.
Blake Hinson - sure count him if you want even though he never played a game, but he (along with Bolton, who I’m surprised you didn’t mention) were never going to buy into TJs system and it was addition by subtraction.
I was sure there were a couple that did OK I couldn’t think of, but the ones leaving for PT related issues seem to fit TJs mold, they just aren’t good enough to play Big 12 basketball. And as far as Hinson and Bolton are concerned TJ was bound to run some of Prohm’s guys after 2-22. Couldn’t let that infection fester.

CuJo will go down as one of my all time favorite players, even though he was only here for 2 seasons. Without the portal, he's probably never a Cyclone.
Hinson might be one of the worst defenders I've ever seen in college basketball. And it's not for lack of athletic ability, but just a complete disinterest in guarding an opponent. Any pts scored by him are then negated by what he gives up defensively.
Will be sad to see DWat move on, but I can't blame him. He is very deserving, so I really hope he finds great success at his next school.
Years ago when Larry Eustachy was asked about 6'7" ISU forward Tyray Pearson being second in the league in scoring Larry responded with something like: "It's great that Tyray is second in the league in scoring, unfortunately whoever he is guarding each night ends up being first."
Larry, especially Drinking Larry, was a real ass but his media availability and pre- and post- game radio interviews were entertaining.

I'm a fan of DWat, but he was never going to be a contributor here. Three years in a college program and he has yet to develop a handle or a consistent shot. You would think that he would be a perfect 3 and D guy. Just work on that corner 3 like crazy and with that athleticism, he'd play for any team out there. But that never happened for whatever reason. I mean, if you are a wing and you can't dribble or shoot, that's pretty damning. And it's not like he was a lock down perimeter defender either. I did love how he cut to the rim and his rebounding/shot blocking, but his game was more like a 5 in a 3's body.
So was Kenny Pratt’s game. He worked out alright.
I was a D Wat fan. Always gave max effort when he was on the court. More than a few other rotational players could say.
Kenny Pratt played almost 30 years ago. The game was very different, and most importantly Pratt was a very skilled post scorer on a team that needed a scorer.
Watson played hard, was a great teammate (it appeared) and by all accounts a great Cyclone and student athlete. I hope he does well, and I think he will if he finds the right situation. But in the end, you have to provide more on offense to play for a team with Elite 8 type aspirations.
