What about Blake Hinson and Jaden Nunn, both were run off right away by this coaching staff and ended up being really solid Power 5 players.

Hinson really could have helped our offensive ineptitude those first 2 years.
When you take over a program that won 2 games you have to quickly evaluate who can help and who can harm what you’re trying to build and quickly cut your losses.

I don’t know why they werent retained, but the team won 20+ games after losing 20+ games the season prior.

Watson was extremely athletic and had good size and length. He was also a good rebounder and defender. I feel the staff really underutilized him during his time here.
Listen I don’t think the staff is beyond criticism but after 3 years I think they have a pretty good idea of what Watson is.

My understanding was Hinson wanted to work hard at one end of the floor, and it was t the defensive end which is why but who knows

You are correct. He signed up to play for Prohm and had no interest in playing for TJ.

Yep. Kenny Pratt had the same finish around the rim ability that Keshon has. No idea how some of those shots went in.
I always joked about Kenny's rather ample ass, but he knew how to use it as an asset. If he was posting up he knew exactly how to use his girth to disrupt a player at the moment right before he made his move. This often got even bigger players a split second slow in following his move rather it was a drive, spin or going up for the shot. Just being able to get your shoulder in front of the defender can often be the difference between getting the shot off cleanly versus blocked or drawing the foul versus a clean block.

Only we could take a player that earned the nickname Mel Mel the Abuser in Rucker Park and decide he needs to be called Tinman

Who the heck is trying to call him Tinman. That is sacrilege. He is Mel Mel the Abuser and he was given that name by some of the elite basketball players in the world.

How I now picture Jamaal Tinsley:

Rock just looked stiff out there,
Omaha did nothing at WF I know he was hurt part of the year.

We play starters so much based on NET scores if you are expected to beat a low major by 27 and you only win by 17 you get hammered in the metrics

Sucks, hate it, but that is the new world
For the record, the NET doesn't use scoring margin. I only clarify because a friend who follows college basketball less closely than me pointed that out earlier this season. One of the two components of the NET is an adjusted net efficiency rating—which is often going to be upstream of scoring margin—so your concern is still legitimate, as Otz's staff clearly sticks with the regular rotation until the very end of "buy" games in order to boost the team's efficiency rating as much as possible. I recognize you may know this and were using shorthand regarding analytics, but, again, since I was previously mistaken, I thought I'd comment

Pratt was a threat to do about anything with the ball and was probably the biggest headache for opposing coaches.

Being able to post him up was just another dimension with Cato around.

While plausible, not very juicy.

Listen I know its more fun to act like this is what TJ did:

But the fact of the matter is expectations were given and one side said it wasn't for them. Doesn't make anyone the good guy or the bad guy. Hinson signed up for a different system and expectations and chose to go a different direction.

The players weren't aware of the system until a few days before the first game? He went through 7 months of practice before that.
