Iowa State’s recent success with transfers played a role in the decision too.

“They’ve had seven transfers in three years. All of them have been successful,â€￾ said Kane. “They can handle them. Royce White was drafted in the first round as a transfer and Will Clyburn is getting a good opportunity along with the rest of those guys.â€￾

Earlier this month in CFs conversation with Matt Abdelmassih, when asked, Abdelmassih said without a doubt that people around the country know that transfers are ISU's thing. Can't argue with that assertion now! I guess one of those people he must have been talking about was DeAndre Kane. Great interview btw, Chris, couldn't have timed it much better!

Reminds me of how people (read: Iowa fans) made fun of Hoiberg's NBA connections helping him at all, then immediately every good recruit and transfer mentioned his NBA connections and experience being a reason they chose ISU.

Awesome! Can't wait for the Cap City League to get going so we can see the holdovers from last season plus the new guys all in action.

One of these days I'll quit being surprised about CFH getting these big recruits. Still hurting from the last guy who'd drive away lottery picks, I guess :twitcy:

plus Matt Thomas just got more open...he'll have to adjust to many aspects of Big 12 ball but he's not going to forget how to shoot.

That'll be the case for a lot of the guys being counted on to contribute next season. Given what we know so far, it wouldn't surprise me if this team is like the other three teams in the Hoiberg era - shaky in the non-con, so-so early conference play, and at their best toward the season's end after they've had some time to get everyone on the same page.

I'm going out on a limb and saying he will take "Bubus" scholarship that was never his and he was just using it instead of it going to waste or us settling for a lesser player.

My hope. I don't want to lose anybody.

we'll still lose someone even if bubu takes the scholly. 16 total on the cyclones.com roster if you add Kane.

Of those 16, Cam Fowler and Tyler Ellerman are walkons. If he took Bubu's scholarship that'd be 3 walk-ons and 13 scholarship players.

Haven't looked, but don't think you're accurate.

Regardless, I highly doubt Fred is freaking out today, scrambling around looking for a scholarship for Kane, so I don't think any of us should either.

we have 15 on the cyclones.com roster. 15 players is max, 13 scholly.

Check again.

There are 14 scholarships accounted for, which obviously means that one person that is currently understood to have a scholarship will either be leaving, or off scholarship.

This isn't rocket science.
