Dwayne Johnson is saying that the script is in for the upcoming Black Adam movie, it looks good, and that he is anticipating production to start in 2019. Again, I think everyone's action to this should still be a whatever....... Like all stupidly announced DC movies that never go into actual production, I refuse to get excited about ANY DC movie until cameras ACTUALLY start rolling. Otherwise, everything is just more talk, talk, talk. Thanks again DC for a whopping 1 DC movie in all of 2019. Good work on that.

My wife watched BvS and Justice League for the first time last week. She hated BvS. She watched the theatrical edition and I told her that the extended edition makes WAY more sense. I don't understand why WB cut out so many details that actually were critical to the plot.

She really enjoyed Justice League. The only thing she didn't like was the CGI. She said that Steppenwolf looked like the same CGI used for the troll in Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone - which was not a compliment.

Not gonna lie. Not too bad Zachary Levi. You are proving me a bit wrong right now in doubting you. You are a still far cry from Henry Cavill as Superman, but getting closer at least.

Cathy Yan is now attached to direct "Birds of Prey" which will star Margot Robie as Harley Quinn. No other casting announcements yet, but in the comics the Birds of Prey consisted of Harley Quinn, Black Canary, Huntress and Batgirl. The script for Birds of Prey has been written by Christina Hodson who wrote the screenplay for the Bumblebee (Transformers) stand-alone movie which is scheduled to come out this December. It should be noted that Hodson was just announced as the new screenwriter for the Barbara Gordon/Batgirl film after Joss Whedon left the project, so we could see a significant casting announcement for the role of Batgirl if they want Barbara Gordon to appear in a solo-film after Birds of Prey.

For those regulars on this thread, you probably already know that I watch pretty much everything out there that is superhero related whether it be movie or TV and then post lots of rankings always of everything. Anyway, there has really only been one TV show I've yet to take the plunge on, Gotham, mostly due to a lack of time. Anyway, now that I've surprisingly caught up on everything else and do actually have some time, I've finally taken the plunge. I watched the first episode last night and enjoyed it. We'll see where this goes. Any Gotham fans on here or even just people who have watched it? Thoughts?

So what DC property would Peter Jackson possibly consider tackling?

He would be a great fit for Justice League Dark.

Just give Patty Jenkins and Peter Jackson the whole damn thing. Consult Zac Snyder for action scenes, but that's about it.

Posting in this thread because it's kind-of related to the DCEU:

This year is the 10th anniversary of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. Without this film, we probably wouldn't have this iteration of the DCEU. People have been speculating about the backstory to Heath Ledger's Joker, but Patton Oswald posted a theory on Facebook over the weekend that is mind-blowing and gets you viewing the Dark Knight in a totally different way:

Patton Oswalt
May 12 at 5:20pm ·
I’ve always liked the theory that Heath Ledger’s Joker in Christopher Nolan’s DARK KNIGHT is a war veteran suffering PTSD. His referencing a “truckload of soldiers” getting blown up, his ease with military hardware, and his tactical ingenuity and precision planning all feel like an ex-Special Forces soldier returned stateside and dishing out payback. I love films that contain enough thought and shading to sustain post-screening theorizing like this.

But I just re-watched THE DARK KNIGHT, and another wrinkle came to mind about The Joker.

What if he’s not only ex-military, but ex-military intelligence?

Specifically — interrogation?

He seems to be very good at the kind of mind-fuckery that sustained, professional interrogation requires. His boast about how “I know the squealers” when he sees one. The way he adjusts his personality and methods depending on who he’s talking to, and knowing EXACTLY the reaction he’ll get: mocking Gamble’s manhood; invoking terror to Brian, the “false” Batman; teasing the policeman’s sense of loyalty to his fallen, fellow cops; digging into Gordon’s isolation; appealing to Harvey Dent’s hunger for “fairness.” He even conducts a “reverse interrogation” with Batman when he’s in the box at the police station — wanting to see how “far” Batman will go, trying to make him break his “one rule.” He constantly changes his backstory (and thus who he is). To Gamble and his henchmen, he’s an abused child (figuring that they were also the products of abuse and neglect). To Rachel, he’s a man mourning a tragic love — something she’s also wrestling with.

In the end, he ends up trying to mind-**** an entire city — and the city calls his bluff. Or is that what he wanted all along? He plummets to his seeming death, laughing like a child. And when he’s rescued by Batman, the one individual he couldn’t manipulate or break, he’s blissful and relieved (and, visually, turned on his head). Even the language he uses when saying goodbye to Batman — describing their relationship as an “irresistible force meeting an immovable object” — is the kind of thing an interrogator would say, ruefully, about a fruitless session.

It didn’t matter how he got those scars, turns out.

(*As Cody Glive points out, in a comment below, The Joker also “directs” Batman’s interrogation of him, like an instructor with a newbie. “Never start with the head, the victim gets all fuzzy.” Can’t believe I missed that. Thanks!)

(And I ALSO just realized — The Joker uses The Russian’s dogs against him, and later sics them on Batman. Just like the pictures from Abu Ghraib of the prisoners being terrified by dogs)

Pretty crazy, right? I think I'll re-watch it this weekend.

Geoff Johns announced that he is leaving his job as chief creative officer over over at DC to instead to start his own production company called Mad Ghost Productions, where he will be instead writing and producing comics, TV shows and films. He said he wanted to spend more of his days writing and being on set than he had been with his previous role. This is interesting as many wanted DC and Warner Bros to go the Marvel Studios route by placing Johns in more of the all encompassing head role like Kevin Feige is, rather than his weirdly laid-out hybrid creative role he has been in with DC. With his past role, he was doing a little bit of everything everywhere (TV, comic, movies... etc). However, this move by Johns is essentially in the complete opposite direction as most probably expected. Instead, he is taking a step away from the executive overseeing direction, but rather back down to the ground creative level. Hey, more power to him with this if this is what direction he wanted to go. Shoot, he may have even been slightly pushed in this direction by the new management over there. Regardless, creating is where Johns cut his teeth and where he is really good, so at least we get to see more of that.

In addition to Geoff Johns writing The Green Lantern Corps script, it is official that it will feature both Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart in the leads. By official, I mean whatever official means in the DC Movie Universe anymore, which to me is official for now....well until it gets changed, or until someone gets fired, or until it just never happens. In fact, I'd say official really only comes with less than 50% probability of happening ever, but its still official.

After having a little lull a month back in superhero shows to catch up on, I actually finally jumped into Gotham some, watching the first 2 seasons, beings how that is pretty much the ONLY modern-day superhero show I've yet to watch. With that said, I thought it was worth tossing those first two Gotham seasons into my rankings in case anyone is interested. Overall, I find Gotham entertaining enough, even though I've just never loved the premise of a Batman prequel with all his villains, yet Batman isn't old enough yet. At times, the series can be quite good and entertaining, whereas other times I found it very cheesey and bad. Overall, there is just lots of variability in quality throughout, but if you are a big Batman fan or a big superhero fan, I guess it is probably worth a watch. Penguin, the Riddler, Jerome (kind of Joker character) Alfred and Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin's character) are all the best parts of the series. Gordon isn't bad either. Also, if you want to develop a major crush on Morena Baccarin (also in Deadpool), you need only watch this series.

  1. The Punisher (Season 1)
  2. The Flash (Season 1)
  3. Daredevil (Season 2)
  4. Daredevil (Season 1)
  5. Agents of Shield (Season 4)
  6. Arrow (Season 2)
  7. Arrow (Season 1)
  8. The Gifted (Season 1)
  9. Legion (Season 1)
  10. Arrow (Season 5)
  11. The Flash (Season 2)
  12. Supergirl (Season 1)
  13. Jessica Jones (Season 1)
  14. Supergirl (Season 2)
  15. Luke Cage (Season 1)
  16. Agents of Shield (Season 2)
  17. Agent Carter (Season 1)
  18. The Tick (Season 1)
  19. Jessica Jones (Season 2)
  20. Runaways (Season 1)
  21. Gotham (Season 1)
  22. The Flash (Season 3)
  23. Powerless (Season 1)
  24. Agents of Shield (Season 1)
  25. Agents of Shield (Season 3)
  26. Agent Carter (Season 2)
  27. Gotham (Season 2)
  28. Iron Fist (Season 1)
  29. Preacher (Season 1)
  30. Arrow (Season 3)
  31. Constantine (Season 1)
  32. Arrow (Season 4)
  33. Legends of Tomorrow (Season 1)
  34. Legends of Tomorrow (Season 2)
  35. Inhumans (Season 1)
Next up, I'm actually currently 4 episodes into Krypton. So far, I'd call it pretty decent, but I've heard really good things about it, so I'm hoping it heats up some more as time goes on. It is only 10 episodes. Once I'm finished with that, I'll post a review and updated rankings again for anyone who is interested. Another thing I'm gearing up for is Incredibles 2 by watching the first one again. Can't wait!!!!

Oh yeah, I do plan to eventually get to Seasons 3 and 4 of Gotham, but frankly, I just needed somewhat of a break with something else. There is no doubt Gotham is a bit of a trudge to get through, so I'd prefer to keep my sanity for now.
