Just curious if there are any Superman and Lois watchers out there at all? I've finally started the series myself and am 3 episodes in so far. A little background on me, I was an avid everything Arrowverse watcher for years, posting reviews and ratings on every season of every show. You may or may not remember them. However, with every subsequent season, the whole concept just became more tiring and not as good of quality for me to the point where I eventually gave up on it a year or so ago. Haven't looked back since. However, when Superman and Lois came out and it not only looked visually intriguing, but also seemingly at the time looked to NOT be a part of the Arrowverse (a big positive for me), I've thought I'd eventually would give it a try.

Anway, I delved in and surprisingly loved the first episode due to its non-arrowverse, cinematic Man of Steel quality, as well as its interesting premise of father Superman. Again, I wanted something non-Arrowverse look and quality and it seemed like that was what they were giving us. However since then, I haven't loved the last couple episodes as much, even though they have been decent, and it seems to be looking and feeling more and more Arrowverse again to the point where I'm not sure whether or not to keep watching. Was curious anyone else's thoughts who have been watching it and whether or not I should continue????

One of the hosts of the Ringer-verse podcast loves Superman and Lois. He can't recommend it highly enough. I might start recording it to give it a try, could be one we watch all together as a family.

I just watched E1 of Titans and was kind of shocked by the production value of at least that first episode. IMHO slickest looking superhero series other than Watchmen (I saw the old Netflix marvel but not D+ series yet).

I'm actually really into Titans for the most part and think it is drastically underrated. Like many others, I saw the first trailer, how dark it was, and the F Batman line and it really turned me off. However, then I gave it a chance and saw what they were trying to do with the series and really dug it. That first trailer was a major fail by marketing and it really did some major damage. You never get a second chance to make a first impression I guess.

Anyway, I think some of the best things about the series is its cinematic feel, its characters, as well as the world they've created. You are right as it feels more HBO and movielike than CWverse by far. Overall, I'd say S1 is better than S2. However, S2 has some of the best stuff of the series so far, but also does some really wonky stuff with the villain that just didn't work. While Deathstroke looks amazing in the show, his character arc in Arrow was better than in this show. With all that said, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming S3 and would recommend you continue watching the show.

So far it seems like a great family show, especially with the particular family premise within the show. How I would describe it would be: What would Superman and Lois's life look like while having 2 high school boys of their own and the challenges that brings? It does shift things from the conventional Superman you are used to.

I loved Titans. Felt very much like a comic book and the quality was great. Looking forward to Season 3.

Man, looking at that pic Snyder posted makes me miss Afleck as Batman. It's hard for me not to be remiss on how we somehow thwarted and wasted something that could have been really really good, whether that be by the studio, Affleck's personal problems, or even Snyder himself. I'm not even the biggest Snyder fan myself, as I place a lot of the blame on him too and not just the studio. It was an all-around waste of concept. Regardless, oy vey. I would give anything to have both him and Cavill back as Batman and Superman. Even better, give me that solo Batfleck pic and I'd be ridiculously excited.

Interesting to hear Keaton's thoughts on returning to the role as well as struggling to understand the screenplay. I'm still trying to judge whether his comments make me feel better about the upcoming movie or worse. Not being the biggest time travel or multiverse fan myself, I'd be lying if they didn't make me slightly nervous how much he struggled to understand the screenplay. With that said, Keaton has always been a bit eccentric when talking about the Batman role. He has never been the biggest Batman fan himself, as the part has always just been a role for him, somewhat similar to Harrison Ford and Han Solo. However, unlike Ford, even though he isn't the biggest Batman fan, he has never gone out of his way to dog on the role either. With that said, I do like to hear how he has grown in appreciation over the years for the character and thinks he can do the character better now than he could then.

Caught The Suicide Squad the other night.

It was entertaining. Definitely a popcorn flick that didn't take itself too seriously. That's all I was really expecting out of it, and so I came away satisfied. Plenty of good laughs. It was miles better than the previous Suicide Squad film.

DC Fandome takes place this Saturday. It's an online event and starts at 12 PM Central. It's already been confirmed that a new trailer for The Batman will be shown. There are also appearances from actors in other DC films and we may get first looks at Black Adam, The Flash, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

There will also be presentations around DC's TV properties on CW and HBO, and upcoming video games Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights.

Was anyone else a bit underwhelmed by DEC Fandome this year?

I wouldn't say underwhelmed because there was a lot that they showed. I tuned out during most of the Q&A panels, although there were some great tidbits in there. I thought Blue Beetle was intriguing. I felt really old when they announced that Saturday was the 20th anniversary of the premier episode of Smallville. It's impressive to see the empire that DC/WB has built.

Yeah, the Batman trailer was awesome, but I think the star of the show was the gameplay trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game is made by Rocksteady Studio who previously made the Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight games.

Colin Farrell as the Penguin seems to be riding in line with Pattinson as Batman as the problem people have with the new movie. I don't really care either way I'm looking forward to it.

I consistently see people say Richard Kind (Paul in Spin City) should play Penguin, but goddamn, all I can see is his face now in the Goomba

I'm weird with the new Batman as I'm mixed all over the board when it comes to everything about that film

-I love Matt Reeves and loved his Apes trilogy
-Affleck is my favorite Batman and I would have much preferred we got his Batman movie within the same existing DCEU against Deathstroke. It sounded more appealing.
-I don't love that they are doing all these separate universes in general and only found the Joker to be alright and too art house
- I don't like the aesthetic of this new Batman movie in general whether that be the color pallet, or especially the look of the new Batsuit and Batmobile. I'm just not digging them at all.
-The Affleck Batsuit was like the pinnacle of Batsuits in my mind from page to screen and feel like this suit is a major step back
-If we were casting a new Batman, I was actually in favor of the Pattison casting as he has been great in many other recent films
-However, since casting, I've hated what he has said in interviews regarding the training and effort it takes to physically get ready for the role, not to mention all the "rumored" drama it all has caused behind the scenes
-I don't like how dark and violent this film has been and the general shift towards dark and "R" or nearly "R" rated with the majority of their films lately. I'm not against having SOME of our DC films be "R" rated, in fact I'd like some, but when you look back and notice that your last 3 of 4 DC films were all "R" rated, and then you add this very very hard PG-13 Batman movie to the mix, maybe we are drifting a bit off-course. I still want the majority of these movies to be able to be seen by kids or the next generation, who should be one of, if not the most primary audience. Instead, we seem more concerned about appealing to 30-50 year old man-children like myself with all this "hard" content. With all this hard content, outside of the weird outlier of the Joker, I think we are seeing the toll it is taking on the fanbase reflected in the box office numbers.
- I wish I was really excited for this movie, but I'm just not really

Batman shouldn't be geared toward children, especially the under 12 set.

The character, at its core, is a child who suffered severe psychological trauma as a young boy. As a result of that trauma, he dedicated his life to becoming a vigilante who dresses up as a bat to terrorize criminals under the cover of darkness. While he developed a "no kill" code, he will still brutalize enemies while toeing that line. Most of his rogues gallery is filled with disturbed individuals, prone to murder, who get placed in an insane asylum when they are captured. None of that is things I want children to truly experience.

Now you can point to the campy 60's version, the various animated versions, and the Lego version which sanitized the characters and stories to get by censors and increase marketability. That was just a way to introduce a more mainstream. palatable version of the character to sell toys and t-shirts to children, but that is about dollars, not servicing the character or story. If dollars trump story, the story will suffer. It would be like making a movie about the Vietnam War and rarely ever referencing the horrors associated with it just to get a few more eyeballs on it.

Unfortunately, what you are seeing is, the more of these super heroes movies that get made, the more people really start to understand that the super hero life is a violent one surrounded by death and destruction, almost always has been. The more we try to hide that, the less interesting these the stories become as it leads to no consequences story telling. Without consequences, you are back to Saturday morning cartoon type stories that completely drift away from the essence of the characters.

The essence of the characters is completely subjective. Batman wasn't that hard bitten for decades. Frank Miller gave us the real Dark Knight. Orphans have been the setup of fantasy stories forever. I'm sorry but the Vietnam War is =/ to super hero stories.

That said, it's bad for business IMO if too many of your movies are hard R. My kids were excited about Suicide Squad movie, I they liked the first one. Then I found out what happened in the new one - no way they are watching it. No way my kids are watching Batman. And if they don't watch it, I'll be honest no way am I going to a theater to watch it by myself.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, as I'm not against having some "R" rated material, I just get annoyed with the feeling around DC movies especially that everyone seems to think everything is better or more real if we suddenly make everything "R" rated. Nolan didn't need it with his Batman trilogy, Batman the Animated Series and Marvel Studios are doing just fine too. Just tell good stories and lots of swearing, sex, and blood doesn't mean better storytelling. Look at Birds of Prey. There was zero reason that movie needed to be "R", and the rating was simply a cover for lazy writing. The end result was barely anyone saw it and it wasn't that good, but hey, it sold a few more clothing items at Hot Topic for the crowd that wants everything "hard and edgy". Congrats WB. Frank Miller's Dark Knight has in some ways been a blessing and a curse on DC. On the one hand, it's a great story. On the other hand, some people seem to think everything needs to be as dark and violent as that comic, when in fact, DC is a bit of everything, not just that graphic novel.
