Dawn of the Dead is on Starz channel 405 on Mediacom digital cable and has been on several times the last month or so. I pretty much watch it every time it is on. Anyone else feel this way?

I like these zombie flicks, I know we have others on this board that like these movies too. What is your favorite? I think mine is Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil: Extinction and Land of the Dead is alright.

I too have watched this movie countless times on Starz. It is a very good zombie flick.

Here is some fun trivia. Dawn of the Dead was the movie that knocked The Passion of Christ off its number one spot at the box office.

As a fan of the Resident Evil games I despised the first two movies and somewhat liked the 3rd. Favorite zombie movie is Shaun of the Dead, hilarious movie that still stays pretty true to the genre. Dawn of the Dead is good as well. I'm not a big fan of the Romero originals but I'll watch them on late night tv if nothing else is on.

Shaun is a pretty good one too, forgot about that one!

Fast zombies scare me! How do we defeat them?

I love dawn of the dead, res evil, and most zombie movies. I'd heard talk of a sequel to the new DotD, but nothing has come of it yet. Zack Snyder has gotten pretty busy since then with 300 and Watchmen.

I'd also recommend the books Zombie Survival Guide from Max Brooks (son of mel) and also World War Z, from him as well.

Any of you play Left 4 Dead? Amazing game.

AGREED!! I love zombie movies! When I watched the remake of Dawn of the Dead, it was the first time a horror movie freaked me out in a LONG time. I loved it. I LOVE the scene where they are shooting the zombies that look like celebrities, it cracks me up.

I have to say that Shaun is my favorite though. I watch it probably once a month or so....

Zombie movies in my Movie library ranked in order of preference:

1.) Shaun of the Dead
2.) Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3)
3.) Dawn of the Dead
4.) The Evil Dead 2 (just about the same movie as 1)
5.) The Evil Dead
6.) Resident Evil
7.) Resident Evil 3
8.) Land of the Dead
9.) Resident Evil 2

I know this is old school, but the original Night of The Living Dead (1969) is still the best zombie movie made.
The first 10 minutes of the remake of Dawn of the Dead was fantastic. I really liked the addition of the gun shop owner guy and the interaction between him and the people at the mall, but the rest of it fell a bit short.

The part of the new Dawn of the Dead that really got me on board was when they used Richard Cheese's cover of "Down with the Sickness." At that point I loved the movie. All zombie movies generally start out good and get bogged down when they hole up for half the movie, DotD is no different.

I have to agree about the Max Brooks books. Both are good reads and World War Z has a pandemic element that makes it seem a little more realistic. Well, as realistic as a zombie book can get.

For anyone who has not seen the originals watch the old George Romero Zombie films. Classic stuff that started a genra.

As for Left 4 Dead, great game but hard as hell unless you are playing with 4 competent people.

Dawn of the Dead is the one with Sarah Polley and Ving Rhames where they're in a shopping mall, right? I just saw that a few weeks ago on Starz, it was pretty good. Definitely ranks up there.

The mall setting of DotD is meant to make some artistic statement about consumerism being not-so-different from being a zombie. Its heavy stuff.

I really liked the movie with Asia Argento and John Leguizamo. Land of the Dead.

These movies all tell us that what people do to each other is just as bad, or worse, than what the zombies are doing. Like eating peoples brains and stuff.

The original Dawn is a horror classic! The new one has too many issues IMO. Why on earth would you leave a mall (food, water, protection) to go to an island of unknown location and have no idea is safe?

Although the guy in the gun shop was a nice creative improvement.

I wasn't a big fan of Land of the Dead. It lacked the claustrophobic feeling that the first 3 had. Have you seen Diary of the Dead? I liked that one better. They have been running it on Cinemax I believe.

In the original Dawn they had to escape the mall due to the zombies getting in and ended up safe on an island. I think the remake wanted to use that same theme but with the unexpected twist.

Did the remake take place in Milwaukee or did I just imagine that?

I swear at the beginning they had Wisconsin plates on the car or the radio said something about being in Milwaukee.

Anyone know? just curious-
