My other obvious favorite.

Man, that's incredible. Hit and facemasked originally at the 5...keeps truckin'. Hit at the 2 and a half, then gangtackled and somehow has the energy and power to get into the end zone.

Thanks for all you've done, DM! The pleasure we truly all ours as fans. Wishing him a 10+ year NFL career.

I have some time today so gonna put together a top 10 DM runs video. Would appreciate any nominations outside of the obvious.

I’m partial to the run that sealed it against tech this year. Mainly because right before that play, I commented that we really need a Montgomery run for 15 yards. The people sitting around me were impressed!

Selfish. If he doesn't want to be a part of CyclONE Nation, he should have left long ago. Good riddance.

:jimlad:

What an incredible, once in a generation, talent Cyclone fans got to watch the last 3 years. Plus, how often do those types of athletes end up being stand up individuals? If anyone seriously wants to question DM's motives leaving early, PM me. We can find a location and time to settle this with our open hands (slap fight, no fists, suburb rules, etc).

Good for David. I hope he gets drafted real high, but not so high as to go to a garbage team

I sometimes wonder what his numbers would have been if he'd had some better offensive lines, especially early on.

I am getting tired of people preaching about this and I’m mostly talking about the media.

I have seen maybe one negative comment from an Iowa State fan. One. I’ve seen hundreds of comments thanking him and saying he made the only decision he could. It has, rightly, been a Montgomery lovefest. Hell, I got a dislike because I said I’d miss him.

Be sure to include Tech '17 where he plows through the middle of the pile, throws off a defender and rumbles for about fifty more yards. He also had a some great scampers in Norman.

I wouldn't expect anyone to have a negative reaction, my post was sarcastic. It's a rarity a player leaves the ISU program early for the draft. Hopefully people realize what a talent DM is.

First class individual. He loves his God and has utilized his God-given gifts to the max. His character and leadership abilities will be missed as much as his athleticism. The NFL will benefit greatly from him, and could use a whole lot more David Montgomerys. His future teammates are going to blessed to have him.

Watching NFL Wildcard games yesterday and I had similar thoughts, multiple times ... #32 would have broken that tackle, ... would have scored on that run, ... would have ... etc.

Selfish request ... not New England, not Pittsburgh.

As a Pittsburgh fan, I'd like to disagree with part of this, but agree no New England.

He would pair quite well with Conner. Would extend both of their careers working in tandem.

Too many prima donnas and I'm a Chiefs fan. My list of teams to dis-like has diminished through the years but Pittsburgh is a recent add -- sort of replaced Dallas.

So......A couple of DM anecdote(s) from before the season started.

Usually take the family to Fan Fest in August before the first game. This last year was no different. We typically can make it through all of the lines and meet all the athletes that are there (there is usually a good little story that comes out of these sessions and it usually involves my youngest (10) - who famously asked Q. Bundrage several years ago if he was going to catch the ball this year (this following a year of some high profile drops) - much to the delight of his teammates who realized he had just been burned by a 7 year old.

So onto this year. My 10 year old is in front of me and making his way through the lines when he comes to DM. My son is in Scouts (Dad is an Eagle Scout himself), and he knew that David was one as well. So he asks him what he did for his project. Being a spectator to this, and a dad, time literally stood still. DM didn't have to say anything other than a brief reply and on to the next person. For him to speak to my son for several minutes and have a real conversation with him beyond just a "Thanks", or "Good Luck", speaks to the kind of person that we all believed he was, and the person we had heard he was. It is definitely a cool thing to see when the behaviors displayed lives up to and exceeds the hype (which is pretty rare in today's day and age....especially in athletics). For that I am a DM fan for life.

Being next in line behind my son, I continued on with our conversation with him and asked him if he had finished Rich Dad, Poor Dad (read an article in the Reg. that he had been reading this book, which I would highly recommend). He replied that he had not yet finished the book. To which I replied that that was a good read and I recommended another book for his reading list, The Millionaire Next Door. He said that he had not read that book, and asked if it was pretty good, to which I replied that it was, adding that it would help him out and come in pretty handy where he was going. I don't recall who was sitting next to him, but he burst out laughing once he heard the punchline.

You will be missed sir, and for many more reasons than just Saturdays in the fall.
